| | | Posted by Arch-Image Ok here is my suggestion to all, generic, lonestar, longhorn, mayhem, 2x, et al ... we have all given each other alot of crap back n forth, but lets face it, this is one of our holy grails for this area. Everyone come to the meet next saturday and bring what ya got, maps, photos, recon info whatever, and let's see what we can piece together ... together. Everyone can get a little nervous online, this way we'd actually be in person and would be cool to meet some of the toher people on here!
|
sounds like a plan to me, ill try to make it a point to make this one.

| | | Well it seems the main campus if finnaly going to sell. Super Collider site deal may be on again
County Judge Chad Adams has called a special meeting Monday afternoon, when the Commissioners' Court will decide whether to reinstate the $6.5 million contract with Collider Holdings LLC to purchase the old Superconducting Super Collider site. Collider Holdings missed its deadline last month to come up with the cash. Under the new proposal, the land would be assigned to Collider Data Center LLC. It is not clear what the relationship is between Collider Holdings LLC and Collider Data Center LLC. The site was originally part of a multibillion-dollar federal project, including a 54-mile circular particle accelerator. Congress cut the program in 1993, citing cost overruns and other problems.

| | | Since you think im the same pearson i gess that was directed to me. I was talking about pumping out the privately owned site of the liner accelerator. Which is only like 10 feet below ground. Im not shure where you got that the whole county was going to cave in. But its great that everyone on here is sooooooo nice and helpful.
Hopefully once i meat some of the cool forum members at the next meet and great things will be diffrent.

| | | BKLONGHORN: I'm sure after the abuse you've taken, you no longer follow the forum. However, had you taken the time to search you would have found that pictures of the supercollider tunnels are quite accessable. My rule-of-thumb is that if it takes less than five minutes to find roughly what you are looking for, then give it a week and you'll have exactly what you want. Givin that rule, type "Waxahachie SSC" in Google's image search and you will find this page: http://www.aps.org...ws/0601/060105.cfm Containing this pic: (I too have interest in the SSC and was stunned when I saw the size of the tunnel in this picture. It's far larger than I was led to believe.) Now since that took all of ten seconds for me to find, I'm going to assume that there are more pictures like that one in existence. Possibly higher resolution. You've got to understand that a subterranean tunnel of that magnitude had to of had a very large build crew. Crews have cameras. I'm sure there are pictures are out there if you take the time to look. ~Adam

I dunno ... you all tore into him pretty good. Seemed necessary though, he just didn't get it. Another picture of the tunnel under construction along with "The Alamole" tunneling contraption taken from here: http://www.ctstbm....lery_pages/ssc.htm
The company contracted for the tunneling job was "Traylor Bros., Inc. / Frontier-Kemper Constructors, Inc. J.V." Contracted by "The United States Department of Energy" [last edit 9/21/2006 11:55 PM by Sonicgiraffe - edited 2 times]
