I think this has been linked to before, and it was decided that that hook was too big, heavy, and mabye not even strong enough. Read through the previous posts in this thread.

Does that have anything to do with grappling hooks? Cant you just put links in one post insted of wasting a pages space, and forcing people with slow connections (Krenta ) to wait for it to load.

| | | hehe I tried using a grappling hook once but it broke. I was too heavy for it. I was all "damn you grappling hook! DAMN YOU TO HELL!" and I had to leave cause that screwed my whole plan. I hate grappling hooks so much.

I have the hand-worn climbing claws. They don't really work all that well.

| | | Yeah, REAL ninja hand spikes weren't tied to your hands, they were a solid band of metal around your whole hand and held in place by leather straps attatched to a wrist band. The spikes were bent like a hook too, not straight out.

Those are the ones... ('cept mine have a mesh-like strap instead of leather) See, the problem is the metal band that goes around your hand. When you dig the claws in, the leverage of you pulling your weight up on it causes the part of the band that's on the back of your hand to dig in rather painfully. I'm sure if you weighed enough it could easily break a few of the more delicate bones in the hand. *shudder*

| | | yeah thats what people tell me about climbing rope with my toes too. I think you probabally just have to get used to it and/or develop strong wrists. [last edit 11/14/2003 11:49 PM by RadEd - edited 1 times]

Your wrists? When climbing a rope with tabis, your toes rest on top of a knot - holding your weight. Your hands are there to keep you from falling backwards off the rope for the most part. Proper climbing technique relies mostly on leg strength to propel yourself up the (rope/wall/whatever). Otherwise you just tire yourself out.

| | | Yeah, I don't really know how to explain it so it will make sense without a demonstration, but in my opinion, your wrists. And by the way, barefoot and no knots.

| | | I do just about everything barefoot except ride the bus and go to work (though I'm working on that one). Sometimes I go exploring barefoot too, but when its a trashed site under decay or some badly kept construction sites, I still go with the ol' skater shoes. Only time I really ever need them is if I think I might be running. I always take off my shoes for the grappling hook though.

Man, you must have some killer callusses! I used to be kinda like that when I was a kid. I'd run around in the woods with no shoes, but I can't do that anymore. Actually, I remember this one time I was walking around in the basement of my parents' house when I was like 13, and when I went upstairs into the kitchen my foot was making this weird clicking noise on the linoleum. When I looked down at the bottom of my foot there was a thumbtack stuck in my heel and I hadn't even noticed it.

| | | Wow I feel really left out, I don't have any of this cool stuff. I dunno wouldn't a grappling hook like bend and break off? I use a rope sometimes but never for climbing. Would save me alot of time if I could just throw a grappling hook up a building and climb up the side, then hop through an open window. man just imagine all the uncool things that could happen while using a grappling hook...
