| | | I was out on an excursion the other day and came upon some people who claim to know where there is a tank and also a small military plane located in the woods somewhere and they can only be accessed by foot and where as we werent on our 4 wheelers and dirt bikes we were not able to get up the trails to where we would of had to have walked from.We are taking our dirt bikes and 4 wheelers out this week in hopes of finding the tank and the plane aswell...hopefully will have pics to post soon...

| | | Apply for level 3 status and you can add it if it isn't there yet, or you can just add on to the location then. If you're curious, you can msg me the place and I can let you know if it's there yet.

| | | Ah hahahahahhaha!
We all had ostriches. My dad had an ostrich farm! I remember one day someone came in and said the high altitude bombing of Kosovo had been a limited success, so we all went out and celebrated… by killing an ostrich and boiling it in kiwi fruit. |

| | | Was wondering if anyone knew if you can get a boat ride over to Lawlor Island in Halifax Harbour. Been wanting to go over and see the abandoned hospital there for awhile, and never got around to it.

I think that guy, Captain ROn? will take you over depending on the winds/tide... but I don't think the hospital is still standing, it's just the foundation.

Redbeard will take you over upon request. As far as I'm aware, the hospital is no longer there. Although on Bing Maps (birds eye view), you can see that there's a giant steel cylinder in the middle of the woods on Lawlor.

| | | I have a good friend who doesn't mind taking people out to McNabs - he picks up and drops off the construction company who are restoring part of Fort McNab. Nathan and I wanted to make a day of it, anyone want to join us?

Did you go today? Impressive how they cleared the brush and overgrowth out of Fort McNab.. You see parts of it that you probably couldn't see since it was closed!

| | | I didn't end up going yet, possibly this weekend coming up - I also want to check out more of the Mexican rig on the dartmouth waterfront (orange and blue) - guess it's not going to be there long?
I think it'd be amazing to get some shots of Imperoyal as well..

Don't expect that to happen. A buddy of mine worked there under contract for a short time, they won't let anybody in there with a camera. Not even if it's built into their phone. Mainly because Imperoyal is considered a target for terrorist attack.

| | | Was just looking through McNabs Island's Wiki description, and there's a few things that I think I'd try to look for this summer:
Important historic features on McNabs Island which are still visible include the foundations of several houses built by early settlers, an aboriginal shell midden, a cemetery containing some of the island's earliest residents, remains of a turn of the century picnic ground and soda pop factory, and remnants of a once extensive Victorian garden. Other features include the original McNab house, Martello Tower, and the main burial site of cholera victims from the S.S. England.
|
Many of these are already well known. But I never knew about the shell midden, soda pop factory, or the burial site. McNabs Island Wiki

I was thinking of this place. A friend and I got our wires crossed on where a place was and I thought it might be this place. It wasn't. But it was this place... http://www.wikimap...68029&z=17&l=0&m=b Some kind if satellite dishes there

It's a backup receiver site for TaTa Communications (TeleGlobe). It's at the end of Club Road in Williamswood. I've been down there, very active. Cameras on every corner of the building. There's also a trail at the end of Club Rd for ATV's and bicycles.
