The school in Wolfville is actually torn down now, nothing left except the brick wall by the road.

Did you explore the brick wall?

We all had ostriches. My dad had an ostrich farm! I remember one day someone came in and said the high altitude bombing of Kosovo had been a limited success, so we all went out and celebrated… by killing an ostrich and boiling it in kiwi fruit.

Sorry, I was too busy driving by and looking at the concrete foundation of the school...

anybody know what this is?
http://maps.google...,0.006968&t=k&z=18
i was cycling on ketch harbour road and stopped in front of this location for a rest. its got a fairly new chain link + barbed wire fence, but the driveway looks unused (the grass is growing through the asphalt) and the grass has obviously not been cut this year. i didnt have a camera to take a pic, sorry.

Looks like it might just be an abandoned house. Anyone been down there lately?

its definitely not a house. i'd guess a community centre or rotary club, or something of that sort. its 1429 ketch harbour road, if that helps...

It does look like a rec. centre...possibly some sort of church??
Can you see the building from the road?

you can see it from the road. it's blue, has a full parking lot with lighting poles. it could have been a church of the non-obvious variety (jehovah's witness, seventh day advent, etc.)
i'm going to cycle out that way again in the next couple of days, i'll try to collect a couple photos...

I was up there today, went all the way up and looked inside. All the doors are locked, and there's definitely power in the place. It looked like either a school or a community centre of some sort. Pics will hopefully be up tomorrow.

Because that's what that building at the back of the property is: a power shed, you can hear the electricity running from outside the shed, and I saw a light on through one of the windows.

It's actually in Dartmouth.
But I'm sure we all remember discussing Greenvale Elementary School at some point on here. Well, I drove past there on my way home today, turns out HRM isn't tearing it down, just refurbishing it, if I had to guess, probably turning it into either a community centre or some sort of studio.
The upper half of the building has had the bricks replaced by concrete.
So needless to say, Greenvale UE is out of the question.

Hey everyone,

I'm completely new to the whole UE thing, however I'm pretty interested in doing some exploring. I cruised through the thread here as well as the database and was wondering if anyone has every checked out the old Radar / concrete plant out in the Beaverbank area as well as what might sounds like the remains of an old retirement home

http://www.wikimap...45233&z=15&l=0&m=b

I'd like to head out there some day and check it out but I wouldn't feel comfortable heading out there alone.

Yes mate, everyone and their dog has visited that place. It's worth a look.

Don't feel too bad, I won't explore places that big/dark by myself anyways. Always bring at least one other person with you, and make sure you have at least one or two full-charged phones.

Depending on what day you decide to go up, I'd be more than happy to accompany you. Show you the ropes so to speak.

I didn't really have any specific day in mind, I've just heard various stories about it since I've moved out here to Sackville.

Always wanted to check it out but never had anyone to go with.

The building by Ketch harbour was a Canadian Coast Guard station. It has been shut down for at least 8 years.
