We're an outdoor oriented couple into hiking geo-caching and exploring. We have several locations in our area to contribute and hope to learn of other spots around us. Not so much into the urban areas but outlying locations hidden in or being reclaimed by the woods get our attention. Usually we find something on Google Earth that looks interesting, waymark it and find a way to get through the woods to it. We do love a challenge!

I'm big on offroading and metal detecting and Ive been going on ue trips since I started driving. Anyway I had a few days to read posts since one cant post for a few days when one is new. So anyway in that time I learned this group seems to pretty big on photography. I shoot with a cannon rebel xt with all the bells and whistles one might need, nothing amazing but certainly not a machine to scoff at.
If there are any other locals to me who would like to go out my Jeep can make it just about anywhere. Anyway looking forward to meeting everyone.

Huge fan of downtown LA, RMS Queen Mary, old buildings and just about any place old that isn't fucked up beyond recognition.
I work in construction safety, so lots of expertise in building construction, architecture and protecting people from nasty shit that can get them killed or worse (asbestos, lead, mold, and all manner of other hazardous shit). Consequently, I have access to respirators, 4 gas meters and fall protection equipment....which I will gladly bring along if invited....also available to consult any members who might have a question regarding their ability to make it in and out of their chosen adventure with ass intact.
As my first gesture of participation, I will post all of my LA Herald Examiner pics as soon as I can figure out how....

I've decided to join this nifty website. I'm an old-time Hiker but new to UE. I live in Western PA. Before now most places I've found have been natural (caves, waterfalls etc.) but I've caught the UE bug and want to explore more man-made, less natural things. So far I've taken two very small trips that I've just stumbled upon. I can not wait to explore an asylum I've scoped out near a friends house as my first larger-scale thing. I also hope that I can take some half decent pictures of my adventures. That would be neat.

Hello everyone!
My name is Matt, I have been urban exploring for a very long time. I just recently found out that the hobby I love was called, "Urban Exploring". Haha
I came across this website while searching the new found term. Unlike most of the urban explorers here I am not into photography as a hobby. I will be taking pictures from now on to share, but they won't be the quality or have the skill that the rest seem to be great at.
I live in North Georgia and I am in my thirties. I don't like burning or spray painting sites, I think that is why authorities have to crack down on explorers.
I prefer commercial, industrial, or military locations over old residential.
I also enjoy spelunking the many caves in georgia as well as camping.
I am very knowledgable on the area in and around where I live and have visited most locations over the years. I am cautious of meeting random people from this website, but will try and set up a meet in the near future of one of my more conquered locations.

I've always loved history and anything old so I'm very excited to go on my first UE which will be to an old school here in my town. I am a male, late 20s, and I always, ever since I can remember liked to explore and go places I'me not supposed too, especially dangerous places. I dont get out much anymore as i am all grown up now, wife, 3 kids, a job and bills to pay but I still get out, i'me just a bit more cautious.
My job involves climbing up hundreds of feet in the air, so when i aint working, I like to have fun underground in caves, mines, tunnels, etc. I also get my kix going in abandon factories, mills, etc.
Its part curiosity and part thrill of not getting caught or killed that motivates me. Whats down there? What is this place, whats the history of it, maybe i'll find something like the remains of the last guy who went down there, dismembered by some sorta creature, oh that be a rush, tryin to GTFO before I end up like he did.
Or maybe, I find a pile of money or treasure, i mean, i dont believe in defacing sites but treasure is one of the few things that aint getting left for the next guy to enjoy.
I typically go alone, not because I am anti-social, which I kinda am, but because what few friends I got left that life anywhere near my proximity just arent up for it anymore, and most people I meet nowdays just wanna play with their Wii's and drink beer.
So I come here to share locations of sites and maybe meet some new friends to go out and jump the fence or go down in the ground.
The nightmare corpse-city of R'lyeh…was built in measureless eons behind history by the vast, loathsome shapes that seeped down from the dark stars. There lay great Cthulhu and his hordes, hidden in green slimy vaults. |
