A pleasure, UER! My name is Meredith and I am relatively new to urban exploration. My boyfriend and I are outdoors types wanting to expand from exploring the natural world into the urban world as well. We would like to meet up with more seasoned urban explorers in Los Angeles and surrounding areas. Please private message me and add me as a friend if you live in the area and want to meet up sometime! If you have any good places to explore either, and wouldn't mind sharing them, I would love to start a dialogue on private messaging as well. Thank you and I look forward to making some connections with people! This site looks to be a wonderful resource for meeting like-minded adventure seekers.

Hello everyone!!!!...New to UER I am here to introduce myself...ok well to start off my name is DEREK and a large portion of my background is as follows...I have a wife and a three year old daughter...I work as a Painter at a dealership painting cars...my hobbies include painting cars, hanging out with the family, and playing the drums...But what most people don't know about me is that I am fascinated with odd things that make having fun while out and about very difficult sometimes...for about thirteen years now I have ventured out with my only friend that shares some of the same interest as I do...We have a local State Hospital that recently closed earlier this year in a town close to ours...We have spent countless nights scaring others who come to check out the action and exploring what is there to enjoy...Having entered into every old non-operational building on the facility we grew tired of the same old same old...So it was time to pack up the tools and infiltrate the operational part of the facility...We made it into the steam tunnels and into a few of the operational buildings...Also exploring the steam tunnnels at the local college wasn't a tough deal either...problem being my buddy draws a fine line sometimes about conditions and feelings on different situations...It always seems to prohibit us from finding anything spectacular...So it takes many many weeks and months to make progress...I have often thought about going alone, but the thought of getting hurt with nobody to know your where abouts always prevents me...I have always had the strange desire to travel to different cities every weekend or so and repel off tall structures and explore some nuclear bomb shelters or missile silos...but of course nobody shares my same interests...Hopefully some of you here can welcome me to the community and have some common goals...Who knows what we are searching for...who knows what we will find...And who knows if anyone will believe us when we do find it...Thank you for taking the time to read my introduction...I am looking forward to making new friends...

Hello all, been lurking around here for almost a year here so decided to introduce myself. I'm Irish and 16 years young. First found out about UE 2 years ago and have done a fair few explores. Got myself a Canon 400d and haven't taken many pictures on explores. That's it, Cheers.

Finally, I can reply to these things....
So here it goes. I am Matthew E. B.
I am new to this scene and don't know much about it. I need some more connection who know location. My area is relatively new so there aren't that many places that are abandoned.

I live in Charlotte, NC in my senior year of high school. I've turned 18. And my favorite band is pavement(irrelevant to this) I carry around a bag with me always with seemingly random stuff. Anything from first aid kits to books. I plan to a graphic artist, illustrator, photographer or writer. I hope.

I found this while searching the inter-web for adventures, train-hopping and abandoned location. I have always been shy about going to places like this but always had the urge to explore it. I never really have except a few roofs and houses here and there.

I am huge book worm. I think it is books that made want to explore the nooks and cranny of this odd world we live in.

If you are in the Charlotte area, hit me up with an email or something of the sort.

So I guess that is about it. soo..
Hi, what is your name?

Hey there! Jersey girl here. Got interested in UE from "Weird NJ" and my dad hiking with me and finding ruins.
I've only visited one or two places but I've been expanding and plan on going to a larger place soon.
I'm a amateur photographer but I do try improving. Mostly I like to explore, and I'm painter and graphic design student.

Another jersey! Nice. What part of Jersey?

Hello Everyone,
My name is Grimfel. I have always had en explorer's spirit and have always loved photography. I believe the two play well together because showing people places they may never see in a way they may never see them is such an awesome experience.

My friend found this site because we are in the process of shooting some short zombie films for you-tube. We wanted to derelict places to shoot, in order to get the right feel and so he shared this site with me as a way to get ideas. I am already hooked. I can't wait to get out and explore, just to see these places and get some pictures. It's amazing.

I believe that some day history will look back on what we do here. Will look at the pictures we have taken, and use them to document places that have been lost to time. People will see what we have done as irreplaceable and immeasurably valuable and that is the only reward I seek.

I shoot with a Nikon d70s, but hope to upgrade.
I like to take creative shots.
I'm a father and husband and work full time so this is one of my weekend passions.
Hope to be able to contribute something worthwhile to this site.

Someday the world will thank us for what we do. We take that which is forgotten about and immemorialize it through pictures and our minds. History will look back at what we have done and cherish it as a keepsake without a price, for it will show them what time forgot in a way that the world has never seen it. This is why I do this...

Hey all!
Name's axman.
I've been doing this on and off for about 16 years, and as of late have really gotten back into it! In the other part of my life I play drums in a Twin Cities punk band. If anybody needs another hand in exploring let me know. I'm always down for a good adventure. I mostly like underground trips but also love exploring anything worthwhile, and cool. Anybody in the Mlps/St.Paul area get in contact with me for a trip.

Hello all.

Not exactly a new member. Ive been a lurker and random poster for the past 5 years. I've been active in UE for even longer than that.
It was funny to actually stumble across a group photo from Gary in 2006 with me in it on the posts here. Always down for group events in the area. I'm horrible with these intro things, so this is pretty much where I end this. Feel free to respond or PM me.

I'm ancient - have been creeping about old abandoned homes, warehouses, buildings, barns off and on since the mid 60's. Took some time off from exploring but lately I've got this urge to start again. Started with an shutdown gantry loader last weekend and a recon of a closed grain elevator. Will have photos posted soon. Any one from the Niagara region interested in sharing information-please contact.

Hey Explorers!
I been a member on this site a while but never participated in discussions. Well, I am 31 & recently moved to Brantford. Love urbex & have been into it for a few years now. Abandoned factories are my fave as they often contain big dirty pieces of equipment. Always up for meeting new people with similar interests so if you are in the area feel free to contact me!
Cheers

Hi!

I made this account years ago, but never used it much because it didn't seem like there were many drain0rs here. I'm mainly interested in drains and subterranean spaces of all types. Also, I'm from Miami, and there is nothing subterranean there because the water level is so high. Instead of drains and sewers, we have canals and septic tanks. I'm currently living in NYC, but I'm moving back to Miami in about 6 months.

Last summer, I went to Europe and did some drains and quarries in the UK and France. I got into drains and things because I was inspired by the work of st00p and JD, who are from the UK, where they've got lots of drainers, and luscious red brick tunnels. I never read about much in North America (apart from Toronto and Minneapolis), and what I did see pictures of was less interesting RCP. Recently it occurred to me that maybe there are a lot more American drains out there, but there just aren't drainers to discover them. So after I move out of NYC, I'd like to travel around the US and Canada and do some exploring.

One problem I have is that I don't really know anyone else who thinks subterranean stuff like drains (or urbex in general) is cool. My only friend who actually wanted to try it turned out to be too paranoid and ill-prepared when it came down to it. If anyone wants to meet up and explore with a relative n00b (although a truly enthusiastic one) that'd be cool. I'd be up for explores of all types if anyone wants some company, but the only type I'd go seriously out of my way for is subterranean.

Sorry for the autobiography! TL;DR version:

I'm a n00b at photography btw. My interest in photography is a byproduct of my subterranean interest. All photos were just taken with a little point-and-shoot digital +CHDK firmware hack (which recently got lost/stolen ).

EDIT: Oh! And freight hopping is something that's recently begun to interest me as well. Haven't tried it yet though.

Not new to the scene, haven't been on the site for a while. Kind of gave up waiting to be able to finally contribute and got busy with school, of which I am now in grad school so this limits my ability to get out and explore. But!, I am here and contributing now. Live in the greater New haven Fairfield county area. I'm always down to head out, but like I said I am a busy girl so plans need to be made in advance, can no longer do my spontaneous on the spot type trips. I need some new people to meet up with and go out on some shoots. PM me please if you'd like to go out and shoot.

I'm new to the site but not too new to urban exploration. I live close to Fort Ord which is a UE goldmine, I've been going there for years and I still haven't seen everything. I joined this site to meet new people and find new places to explore.

I'm new, and totally new to UE. I've always had a big intrest in urban decay from an economical and political perspective, but really never knew there were people out here doing this stuff. It is completely fascinating to me and I love to see the photographs on this site. I can browse around for hours.

In a city full of failed tourist attractions and hotels, I think I might be having some fun soon.

Hey everyone I've been a member here for a few years now, but haven't really done much with my account. Me and my friends recently just got back into urban exploration and I remembered this site. Hopefully I'll get to learn a lot from all of you and get to share a lot of great experiences with you all too.
