| | | Posted by MG87x Hello everyone, My name is Marcello and I am pretty new to the whole urban exploration scene. I recently purchased a DSLR and found it pretty addicting and fun. I am in the upstate NY area so there are a decent amount of interesting places to visit around here.

Whereabouts in upstate?
Be careful, not safe. "Urbex- so much fun that it should be illegal." |

| | | Greetings to all! First off, allow me to introduce myself. I am Amandie's fiance, and have had some experience (not a lot) with exploring. I will tell you about where I went some time ago. I'm sure you are familiar with the old Zoo Keeper's house on Old Finch road near Morningside Rd. I apologize for not having any pictures as the camera would not work in the area due to strong spiritual activity. We went into the farmhouse through the basement and proceeded to go upstairs. The place was creepy as the spirits of those who were killed still inhabited the house. Heck, the noose where the zoo keeper hung himself still remained on site! The barns are gone as well since they collapsed on their own. It was such sad history given what happened. This was back in 2003, and since then, the house burned RIGHT to the ground. -Nailz

| | | Hi everyone! Firstly, im introduced to this forum by J.Dunbar (S.Korea Explorers). I'm from Singapore (yah i heard the jokes about Sg is some part of china or thailand). I represent my group (Singapore Urban Explorers), we been around for not too long, a couple of years, which i feel, is definitely young, compared to the more experienced groups from other parts of the world. UE scene in Singapore is relatively young, and somehow embroiled together with the paranormal (yes, i know, annoyance to some ). Why is that, many would ask? Imo, many in our country are brought up believing in such (or plainly superstitious, like most Asians are), our teenage years, we "thrillseek" by exploring 'famous' abandoned buildings, it's like a rite of passage for us. Like those "i dare you"s. Given the interest in the paranormal and the needless need to scare ourselves silly, such gave birth to numerous paranormal groups (some are dubious though), and we stake claim to the "most haunted country per square feet". We could force-feed ideas that we shouldn't include "paranormal" topics and themes in our UE, but somehow people would still talk about it. Rather than dissing it straight on, nor embracing, we could at least give it some lee-way, but focus more on the UE parts during explorations. Give and take somehow, those who have experiences staying in Singapore for long periods of time, will understand the scene here, and the difficulty in actually performing UE here. As most abandoned buildings/ruins are not left alone for long, lots and lots of urban redevelopment all the time - here today, gone tomorrow. And our authorities strict stance on explorations which they usually view as 'trespassing', yes, even on abandoned location which they will still call it 'State Land' (nowadays mostly come with cctvs and motion sensors, barb wires, fences, patrolling security vans). Non-UE-conducive, hence explains the lack of interest in pure UE. (however i beg to differ, local mindsets are slowly changing. ) For our group, we evolved from UE-quasi-paranormal group, to more on UE and research on historical/heritage locations(which seems more likely to be preserved, or unless sadly converted to another commercial money churning place). Our explorations, from night explorations led by an ex-member(lots of ugly stuff bout this guy, but i digress, here's not the place to rant bout the unmentionables he does eg. vandalism), changing to day explorations and recces. Which we felt were better conducively for photography and actual documentation of the location. Currently we aren't 100% active, as most of our members are now married, some with kids (compared to our heydays of being 'young & dangerous'! haha). We had not actively recruit any new blood, from past bad experiences, we now believe its takes quite a while to know a person well, gaining acceptance into our group. For now, we are digging up past explorations and photos to rewrite our articles for public consumption, using public friendly blogs and facebook. Gonna do a couple of heritage documentations (we have a few WW2 ruins/sites here) I know it's not hard core straight UE, but given circumstances, we got to compromise somehow. It sucks, but we got to take it on the chin, rough it out. xD And do i have any foreign UE experiences? I did a little exploration once in the Netherlands, in those dunes with German bunkers and stuff, nothing fancy though. I do hope i will have the opportunities to hook up with explorers from other countries to learn more, especially more locations in Europe, Japan and South Korea. I do have a keen interest in photography, shooting ruins simply excite me. Poring photos after photos taken by others in websites, you cannot explain my 'fetish' for exploration photos, videos and write ups. Lastly, i apologize for the above numerous huge chunks of text. Feel free to private message me, or queries (maybe i should start a new thread), i will answer them to my best ability allows. Links to see what my group is up to? Find the correct one with me in it, J.Dunbar can tell you which if you aren't sure. Feel free to add me in Fb too, if you wanna. Have a nice day!

| | | Hey everyone. My name is William. I've always been extremely interested in urban exploration since I was a kid. I didn't think there was a whole community involved but it's a pleasant surprise. I've kinda browsed past this place a few times and always liked the photography and the professionalism of all the explorers. I'm in the military and travel around all over the US, which gives me plenty of chances to find new places. I've got some contributions and new places from Alaska, California, and North Carolina to add But I will admit that some of the photography isn't so good.

| | | Hello all, My name is Chris. I'm from Milwaukee. I've done a little bit of urban exploring in Milwaukee and Detroit. Another place I wanted to explore was East St. Louis. It seemed like a good idea up until I got there. Anyway, I became more interested when I saw this movie about urban exploring, and shortly there after found this site. I'm looking forward to meeting up with other explorers and finding new places (well old) to explore.

| | | Hey, my name is Kyle as you can see from my username which I stupidly set to that, I live in Burlington, Ontario and have been interested in urban exploration photography for a long time now, finally just starting to do it with a friend. Some photographers I know told me to check out this site, so here I am! Hopefully I'll get to know some people and shoot some new locations.

| | | New to this forum, and UE. Use to do it a lot when i was younger, from Garner, NC, and there use to be a lot of old farmhouses and stuff like that. I am interested in UE because I love to go backpacking in the mountains, but with a career now, time is not that easy to come by. So i figured to revert back to my younger days when you get pleasure of exploring an establishment that was used a lot in the past and is now deserted. I am not new to forums, been a member of shroomery.org for about 5 years, so I am trying to figure this one out and how it works, but it will probably take some time. Not sure what I want to explore but from looking at pictures posted by other members, I want to find old schools or hospitals to explore and enjoy. But since I know of a lot of old houses within 30 minutes of where I live, i will probably check those out first. But look forward to meeting people on here and hopefully go out and explore some sites around Wake County with some more experienced UEs.

| | | Hello, my name is Alex and I am new to the forum. I am very excited to have found such a vibrant group of urban exploration enthusiast. I did some exploration of a Titan II missile silo back in 1991 up off Smokey Hill Road outside of Denver. It was an exploration that I have talked about ever since and would be very interested in meeting anyone how has access to other silos in the area. I have since been back to that site and the access point is covered up. It also looks like there was an attempt to unearth the complex as it had a bunch of chain link fence surrounding a giant excavation. Not sure what they were attempting. I have not been back in a few years so I don’t know the current status. I am very interested in abandoned asylums and hospitals as well as silos. I look forward to contributing to the forum. Also, heading to the Atlanta area in September and would be interested in any must see locations. Best - Alex

| | | Thank you for this website. It is going to come in handy when I travel. Hopefully I will be able to add some locations in the future. I have only been a member for a few days now, so I have some time before I am able to add. But will definitely post in the forum, if I find a good location. I wish I knew about this website when it started. That is when I was doing most of my exploring. There would be days, that I would go out just too look for abandoned houses. Anyway, thanks for this website. Its good to know there is an organized website like this.
