i'm a little new to this, but why not give it a shot? i'm out of texas, in a suburb of houston. there's not many old buildings outside the main city, but the drains are exquisite. i and a friend have been running around in them for nearly two months, and we've only seen one case of graffiti.

pictures will be posted as soon as better ones are taken.

in any case, it's great to find a bunch of people who are into this. thanks!

Hi, I'm Mike...

I'm mid 40's living in Quebec, Canada, just across the river from Ottawa.

Perhaps like most young males, I was an avid UE fan as a kid and in my teens, etc. and still do some mild exploration.

I recently started reading about UE, particularly the amazing stories from the Twin Cities area. I've lived in Toronto a few times so have taken interest in stories from there as well.

I grew up in St. Catharines next to the Welland Canal and that afforded many interesting trips.

I'm particularly interested in learning of any opportunities in the Ottawa area, our nations' capital. Would be cool to learn more about the tunnels under the parliament buildings, Bank of Canada etc.

Here, like elsewhere I think, I'm getting the feeling that security measures are rising, and that as time goes by, exploring will become more limited. OTOH, we "writers on the Internet" can share our info and work to counter the security threats.

For anyone interested, I do embedded Linux software development for a living, mostly network security products.

A recent hobby of mine is electric biking. I can do peaks over 30 MPH, range of over 20 miles, and can legally ride at reasonable speeds on the extensive local bike paths (or streets) without license, insurance or ID. Quite fun late at night and the lack of noise makes for stealthy reconnaissance.

Cheers and happy exploring to all.

Heya!

I've always been into really old building and such, whenever I go on car trips usually the crazy old run down building catch my eye. I've never actually dared to venture into one myself, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't love to~ After looking through several of the locations (and their pictures) posted it's just got me more anxious to go scout out places close to me

Oh, and I guess I should mention that I'm in Virginia..

Hey, everybody. New member here. I come from Maryland, in Frederick, and I'm glad to join this site. There's a lot of stuff around Frederick, and I'm hoping to contribute a lot of sites when I get my camera up and running.

Hello all! Joined the site ages back and then promptly let life get in the way. Spending some quality time in the Kitchener, Ontario area pointing lenses at abandoned industry. I became fascinated with 'modern ruins' after driving past the old TB hospital complex on Hwy 59 in Woodstock, long since condo'ed. I hope to scan in the results of finally pulling over and exploring that amazing place, as well as my other, more recent adventures. Thanks to all the people who have contributed to the Resource that this truly is. Take Care!

Hey guys, someone at work mentioned this site, so I figured I check it out. I've done alot of exploring (some in very exotic places of the world) and am not a newb at the hobby. I'm from downtown toronto and currently dig new condo towers.

I'm tipsy, so i'll end here before I blabber off.

Hey, I'm AcidPunk.
I'm 15 from T.O.
Before you all start laughing at my age, let me say that i am, and proud to be, a lot UNLIKE many other teenage explorers. I actually have a great fascination with history and especially the history of old buildings. (Control your laughter) I dont tag up or vandalize any building i enter and abide by the rule of Take nothing but pictures leave nothing but footprints. (Stop laughing, Im being serious)
I've been exploring for about half a year with my first building being the Canada Malting Company. Ever since then i have been hooked.
The most recent place I've explored was the Leaside Rail Shops which i quite liked until the cops arrived. I'm heading to Tower again soon as well.
If anybody needs a partner for an outing and doesn't mind my being a little younger then most gimme a holler. (Don't worry I'm not gonna be the dumbass who get you arrested.)

i look forward to meeting some of you.

Hey guys, I figured it's about time I post in here. I'm pretty new to UER, but I've been doing a bit of urbex for a couple years now. I'm a freshman at NCSU, in Raleigh, NC. A few of my friends and I have been doing a decent amount of exploring lately, primarily around campus.

I'd like to get to know some more of the active people in the area, especially since I've got some good free time around exams now. I live in Hendersonville, south of Asheville when I'm not at school, so I'm curious if there's anyone out that way too.

Hey Y'all...FNG (F***"N New Guy) here...new to this, not really UE. I've explored a bit already, not knowing others were into this.

So, Hi...my name is Mike.

As a kid in high school, I grew up in Redwood City, California...My best friend and I at 15 started exploring an abandoned health home in the hills above Redwood City (Hassler Health Home, off Edgewood road) Daytime was cool, but nights we're awesome! We used oil soaked rags on sticks with small tin cans to hold off the oil, burning black thick smoke...we didn't care...we were exploring! Now days...I think it's a housing development. Then we went downtown town and started exploring the huge storm drains and canals...with flashlights and waders this time. A few years later, I moved to the Grass Valley / Nevada City area where I checked out several mining tunnels, and old mining buildings, a few storm drains in Nevada City, one that the POE was in the middle of a restaurant (still there as of two months ago, and I plan On a return)...anyhow...I LOVE IT!

So I'm hoping to hook up with some people in the Sacramento area, but anywhere in Northern California / Reno area is cool too.

Outside of this...I'm a tattooer by day...Clamper (E. Clampus Vitus L.S.D.3)on some weekends, and a Burning Man enthusiast (DPW)during the summer...my time is fairly booked up, but i'm hoping for a couple trips before August...Can't do NoCoEx(?) but if anyone knows of some local digs in the Sacramento area, hit me back...I'm gonna try to get the Old Sac. storm drains first...Bueller?

Hey, I'm Cad..I'm not really a new member, more of a lurker really. I'm looking to get more involved, since exploration really appeals to me. I'm based in Ontario around the GTA and sometimes closer to the Collingwood area.

I'm trying desperately not to sound like a jackass in my first post and I plan to start posting some pics in my local area forum soon. Hopefully over the summer I'll end up learning from you guys, since you're all far more experienced than I am.

Also, I genuinely wish I had picked a cooler screen name.

Hi everyone:

I've been interested in UE for a long time, but I've never gone on any sites. I live in the Northern Nevada area, and haven't been able to find any Urban Exploration groups here. (Let me know if you've heard of some).

I'm originally from Ohio, and miss living in the midwestern region because there is a lot more things to explore out there.

Anyway, nice to meet you all!

Hey, I'm Kelly. I live in central Illinois. I have done a little exploring but not much i.e. rainstorm tunnel when I was 10, old sailors and orphanage complex, but the best experience was in 2003 I went with a couple of people to explore this old candy factory in my town. AND IT WAS THE COOLEST THING I HAVE EVER DONE. It was built sometime between 1880 and 1920, it has been abandoned since 1970. I really enjoyed seeing the different colors of corrosion, rust, and the crazy large machinery. And the best part of all was the fire escape. It wasn't bolted correctly to the building or it was missing a bolt (idk) but it did fun things (cant explain u had to be there). I always wanted to go back but college, rent, job, and lack of camera kept me from going back. And besides, it was going to be there for a while, right? Well tragedy struck the old Beich factory in 2005 when a father and son redneck due decided it would be awesome to burn the place down. I was leaving work a whole 10 miles away and to the west I saw this HUGE black smoke cloud, I thought it was 9/11 again or tires burning. The black smoke was due to the sugar coated wood burning. Since then I have kicking my ass that I never went back. And I am looking for another OLD candy factory to explore.

I haven't explored too much since then, some old graveyards, barns, farm houses, the woods. One day nothing was on tv so I decided to give that stupid show Ghost Adventures a try, they were at Pennhurst. I feel asleep during the show so I looked up info about the asylum and I came across www.opacity.us and the pictures that Motts takes truly got me interested in exploring. So I have been doing research on towns near me, and what industry brought the town growth, factory closures or anything else. I am glad I have found this place, its going to make it a lot easier finding places. Maybe I will meet some friends and learn some tricks of the trade.

Rumplestiltzkin, here. Just popping in to say hey. TN area explorer. Exploiting my explorations will be a little slow due to the fact that my life is a bit bigger than my time allows. Will update and load up whenever I get the chance. Hopefully I will be able to link up with some of the TN explorers sometime this year!

Later,

I'm not "new", but I'm new to actively posting. hey all.

I live in northern BC, a recent transplant from southern Ontario. I have an amateur interest in photography, history, architecture and visual anthropology. I don't own a tv and instead spend a lot of time researching online or at home reading books.

I am most interested in abandoned or near-abandoned mining towns. I've done a lot of exploring off Hwy 11 in Ontario, Hwy 37 in BC, as well as the Welland Canal and the cities along it. I'm now planning some road trips into Alaska, Yukon and the Northwest Territories. my ideal vacation spot is Deadhorse, Alaska
