hey guys. 25/m from new zealand, always been vaguely interested in old buildings, primarily for the architecture. stumbled across an urbex site on the net and realised that the history of empty buildings is just as interesting, and the idea of seeing things that most people don't think about and will never check out appealed.

Wow there is even a Kiwi here! May be a few actually. See

when we get our server running again.

Last time we went to NZ we went looking for something to explore several times. Went to Avoca on the Western side of Arthurs pass. I should post it.

HI! my name is Jen..
I'm pretty new to UE but I love it.

when I was real young my family owned a camping trailer on a lot and over time families left their trailer's abandoned. So my grandma would see if they were stable and we would go explore in them.

ive always shown interest in ue.
But it wasn't until recently that i have had a change to go out w/experienced UE's.I've became friends with people who've been doing it for years now. I have a lot to learn from them. I think its an amazing hobby and that we are the lucky to get to see everything we do.

I love it, and I love that I'm going to continue to learn much more about it.

Its great to meet all of you!

Wow, such amazing stories and pictures! I'm new to this forum although I've been to one meet up already. Yay me!

Always loved exploring abandoned buildings since I was little. Now I get to do it with a camera. Looking forward to the next meet up in Toronto.

Hello everyone!

After 7 long days of waiting I can finally post, hooray! I'm 20 years old and from New York. I'm not new to UE but I am new to UER.

I'm pretty much up for anything on Long Island (Nassau & Western-Mid Suffolk), I'll head for Queens, Brooklyn, New York, and Eastern LI if there's something exceptional though.

When I'm not working or attending classes I'm usually going about looking for interesting things, all abandonments and industrial wastelands are go in my book, although my favorite finds are factories/dumps/junkyards and the like.

Hello.

I'm from Ontario, Canada. I'm fairly young, I just got out of high school close to two months ago. I didn't know about urban exploration until about a year ago. I don't remember how I actually found out, but its all so fascinating. I've always wanted to explore abandoned buildings, but every time I tried to none of my friends ever made the commitment. I'm hoping to attend the monthly meeting in August, but I'm afraid I'm too new. I haven't done any real urbexing before and I don't know anyone else on the forum. I don't want to show up and feel like an unwelcome stranger.

Anyways, I hope I can get some urbexing done before the summer is over. Until then everyone is free to make fun of me for being a total newbie.

I am definitely not a newb but I did disappear for about 6 years.

My passion for drains and exploring came back and crushed me like a freight train so here I am again.

Expect hella drains added to the LDB by me!

Hello Iam Kim from Oshawa,Ontario. Iam not a newbie but I would say that Iam a newbie to the forums.

I have been an avid ue'r for the better portion of my life. I first started at the ripe old age of 8 on a dare to enter an abandoned house that the local kids said was haunted. (LOL) With knees knocking and fear creeping in every pore I pushed on and in to see what lies beyond each door and hallway. curiosity replaced fear and ever since then it has become a bit of an obsession for me. I always find myself nearly careening off the lesser travelled roadways as I rubberneck to see a possible new location to poke around and take pictures.

I prefer to check out abandoned places rather then drains or tunnels as they make me feel too closed in. (wigs me out! LOL)

It never ceases to amaze me what people leave behind or forget about. I photograph all sorts of things that speak to me of an era gone by and compile them in a file I have dubbed "Urban Decay". It is my hope that one day I can create a book of photos that reflect how I view and oddly find beauty in this interesting hobby through my eyes.

Hey, I'm Mike, and for some reason, I've never been big into UER. By which I mean, I've never bothered to be active on this site, although most of the people I UE with are, and I know it's a good resource. Go figure.

FYI: Probably not here. Probably elsewhere. Probably not supposed to be there.

Hey guys. I'm from Sydney Australia, thought I'd say hey by telling your how I became interested in urban exploration.

A couple of years ago, the building next to the one I worked in was an old government building, I believe part of the treasury building and then later I think it was used for state rail offices or something similar. During the time I worked next door 3/4 of the building was derelict and disused and had been for many years. The company who own the building I worked in also owned the the one next door. As a result, security from our building had keys, and did random checks on the disused areas.

On quiet a night shift, at 2am in the morning when there was no work to do, I was occasionally lucky enough to go with security and check out the building. It was awesome being able to look through all the rooms, and every time I went I always seemed to find something new. old work logs, a diary, polaroid photos all of which were great to flick through.

There was also the entrance to an underground tunnel. One of security told me the tunnel went all the way from from the building, under The Domain and to Town Hall. I think they sealed the entrance up as the building is now being renovated into office space.

So since then I've always had a fascination with checking out the old, disused or forgotten parts of a city. Sadly I don't really have anyone to go with at the moment, but hope that will change some time soon.

I hope to get know you all on the forums, read some good stories and share some of my own. Check out the flicks, and post some of mine as well.

Thanks.

KimChi.

The only reason I ask is because you're basically located in the draining capital of the world. Look up 'Sydney Cave Clan' or just cave clan as there are MANY people around you who drain.
