Body armor anyone?

What do you guys think about the necessity for body armor for the shit we do?

I recently picked up the icon field armor back/chest protector
http://www.motostr....com/icfiarve.html
Reason being I fell through a floor at a place and my lower back and kidneys ached for a month...

overkill?
anyone else look into body armor?

I'm looking into getting head armor used in rugby...probably not but something worth checking out.

Overkill.

I'm just thinking of the look on a cops face if one were to catch you out in that get up. If you need to protect yourself this much from exploring a specific facility, maybe you should just stay out of that facility. I understand your fear of getting hurt again, but I think being more careful would be a better (and money saving) way of staying out of trouble rather than wearing armor and a helmet.

probably the most unnecessary piece of equipment i have ever heard of for ue. something like that will probably get you arrested if caught.

Body armor isn't going to save you from breaking your legs or your back or your head. If you're falling through floors your only problem is that you're not being careful enough.

some localities have laws that will increase the penalties for an offense if you wear body armor. of course that is ballistic armor, and i'm not familiar with the armor you mentioned. it may not count, i don't know, but it's something to consider.

i have body armor, but never considered wearing it for ue. i don't even wear a helmet.

You're right. This is what happened to me the one time I forgot to remove my draining armour before exiting through a manhole.

This might not be a bad choice of helmets

Anyone who has to wear body armor for work would never want to wear it for fun.
Ever wear a ballistic plate on a 120 day?

closest thing to 'armor' i've ever worn on an expedition is a pair of firefighter boots... other than that, come on...

Ok, maybe something you guys do not realize is the body armor I purchased is thin and compact enough to fit under a sweatshirt and some say even a T-shirt. Point being the cops wont be able to tell unless they pat my ass down.

Upon second thought, the head gear would be mad funny. Especially when the cops catch my ass...but yea, unnecessary.

Here's a new question...How many of you run from security when they yell at you and how many stay and hope for the best?

I suppose it matters also if it is just security and not the cops.

The body armor that he is discussing, will in fact, lessen the chance of breaking your spine. This is one of its design parameters.

Your question about running from security is too situational to answer with a definitive yes or no.
