| | | What the bloody hell do you need body armour for? If you have a habit of falling through floors then I think you need ot start thinking of a new hobby! Seriously though, why? It's just one more thing that will weight you down and restrict you. May not restrict you alot but it will do. Yeah, yeah. I know, "Think What if, not If only" But if you worry about ever possible hazard and seek to prevent it then you wouldn't be able to move with all the safety equipment you would be wearing! Best just to stay at home and never leave the house...
So, I wouldn't recommend wearing it. Also to answer the second question, it all depends on the situation. If I had a way out then I would run like crazy. If they had me cornered then I would just give up and offer them my hot explorer body. ;)

Yea I looked into those, not because I was planning on getting shot at (although that may happen exploring springfield mass) but because I was afraid of sharp poles or something...but that stuff cost waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy too much. I hate flavor flav Here is another question...I have experience using smoke bombs in my backyard to kill ground hogs...which got me thinking: the use of smoke bombs to escape? (yes i know i am not a ninja) I'll test it out when i go out back in the woods one day and see how the smoke spread is.
There's always a confused soul that thinks that one man can make a difference, and we have to kill him to convince him otherwise. |

Hm..... Well, I'm not going to slag you for this. However, if your locations are that hardcore, you may be going to the wrong places.
I have changed my personal exploring ethics code. From now on it will be: "Take only aimed shots, leave only hobo corpses." Copper scrappers, meth heads and homeless beware. The Jonsered cometh among you, bringing fear and dread. |

How much heat do those things put out? If there is a risk of causing a fire then I say don't even consider it. How much of a tit would you feel if you accidently burned down your favourite explore by using a smoke nade? [last edit 3/17/2007 7:28 AM by Azubi.UK - edited 1 times]

| | | Posted by Hi4noon What do you guys think about the necessity for body armor for the shit we do? I recently picked up the icon field armor back/chest protector http://www.motostr....com/icfiarve.html Reason being I fell through a floor at a place and my lower back and kidneys ached for a month... overkill? anyone else look into body armor? I'm looking into getting head armor used in rugby...probably not but something worth checking out. peace
|
that is NOT body armor. Body Armor would be my SOV Dragon Skin or an Intercepter OTV vest with SAPI plates.

| | | 1. Body Armor is hot even in the coldest climates. 2. Like the above poster said it IS NOT BODY ARMOR that he is talking about. ballastic body armor is what is covered under the laws and it converts misdormeaners etc into felonies. Its actually under protective clothing. That being said I think some of those motorcycle jackets might be better, less obvious, and less difficult for a cop to swallow. 3. A skateboard helmet would be a far better investment then armoring your torso.

| | | The only time I have put on armor since leaving the military is for ranges for work where our uniformed personnel are participating. I trust all my close coworkers not to do stupid shit, and the instance of bullets flying towards me while I sit in the office reviewing emails and shit is very infrequent. I won't wear it for any other reason than ranges, unless an ex-employee goes nuts and brings in an Uzi. I do use the Kevlar flight gloves, because I am far more likely to be cut while searching a bag or vehicle.
Please don't be stupid. It might piss me off so much that I have a seizure or something. I hate stupid people. |

haha yes. icon stuff... i mean some isnt too shabby i suppose. the helmets are made by HJC. most of the gloves are jokes and blow apart. i just dont like the whole marketing spin they use, to the hooligan/urban/stunter crowd. i dont get a long with most riders from that subset because theyre usually plain dangerous.
