Posted by basegrinder D90 can use better lenses with AF unless you want to use old Nikon manual focus lenses and do your own metering |
Posted by Byberrian Fanman The only aspect where the D90 is better than the D5100 is the in-body AF motor.. that's it. |
Posted by basegrinder If you're just taking snapshots, or Facebook pictures, or tripod photos sure. |
But if you want to shoot sports with a 80-200 2.8 AFD ($800) on a D5100 you're out of luck. You could always buy the 70-200 2.8 VRii for $2,500. |
Or if you want to shoot sports with the 300 2.8 AFD ($1,800) you're out of luck, but you can always get the AFS for only $6,000. |
Considering there is no AI tab on either, the D7000 is better than both. |
Posted by Byberrian Fanman Well, of course the D7000 is the better bet.. but some people have budgets. |
Posted by MeoW Now where to find $2099 http://www.nikonus...as/25488/D600.html |
Posted by urbexkeith Does anybody have any experience with the Tamron 17-50mm 2.8 non VC? There is one on Craigslist for $150 that i've had my eye on for awhile, seems like a pretty good lens for the price. |
Posted by Byberrian Fanman The Canon 50mm f/1.8 is, like most 50's, a decent lens.. albeit a bit longish when used on APS-C bodies. Try to find the first version of the lens with the metal mount and distance scale, the build quality (and arguably, the autofocus) is superior to the current Mk. II. Edit: Picture for reference. http://i910.photob...fansstuff14548.jpg |
Posted by \/adder Which is around $200-300 for the mk I. |
Posted by misstinavicious There's no way I can afford anything over a hundred right now, but I'll definitely consider those lenses for future options. But I can't seem to find anywhere online to buy the first version, I'm only seeing the II. |
Posted by Byberrian Fanman The first version is optically identical to the current Mk. II. It was introduced in 1987 along with the EOS system. It was replaced with the current version with SHITTY build quality in 1990 as a cost-saving measure. |
Posted by Calvin Kaneda Today I upgraded from a Nikon D90 to a Nikon D600. |
