Posted by cdracingzx6r I'd say waiting a little longer and skipping the D3100 might be something to consider. |
Posted by HarvestmanMan I'm looking for a point-and-shoot that takes video at anything higher than 30 fps. Any recommendations? My budget is up to $250 or so. |
Posted by asf73 I know that the rumors of an entry level ff by Nikon may be hitting the streets relatively soon, I think a D800 will be the way to go. |
Posted by Byberrian Fanman If you want state-of-the-art image quality, the D800 is definitely the way to go...if you can find one, that is. |
Posted by Shawn W. There's always the D700. |

Posted by Byberrian Fanman Rumor has it that the D600 will run for about $1500 when released. If this actually happens, the used price of the D700 will undoubtedly plummet. At this point, I'd only go for a D700 if you A.) found one for under $1000 and/or B.) need the pro-level speed (frame-rate). |
Posted by misstinavicious So I've got a Canon Rebel XS with the kit lens that sucks. And my dad has a Canon 10D I think with a Tamron 24-135mm lens. He doesn't even know how to use the lens or the camera but sometimes he lets me borrow it. Only problem is when I have it my kit lens wont fit on his camera so he is without a lens. I've seen some lens adapters on amazon for around 30 bucks but I can't figure out which one I'll need. Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't wanna accidentally buy the wrong one. |
Posted by Byberrian Fanman The Canon 10D is based on an older 35mm film body, thus it has a full-size mirror.. this is the very reason why the 10D (as well as the similarly-ancient D30 and D60) will not accept EF-S lenses (EF-S lenses poke a little farther into the camera). If you want a good standard zoom for the 10D, you'll have to go to Sigma, Tamron or Tokina, as their digital/APS-C lenses will not hit the mirror. |
Posted by misstinavicious I don't want a good lens for the 10D though, it's my dads and he sucks and doesn't even use it. I just want my kit lens to fit on it, is there any adapters I can get to make it work? |
Posted by misstinavicious Darn, I was hoping that would work. I plan on upgrading my lens one day but unfortunately I can't afford it. Got any recommendations for a good lens when I do? |
Posted by TheVicariousVadder I don't know why you're even bothering. If your dad doesn't use the camera, him not having a lens shouldn't be an issue. The Rebel XS is lightyears ahead of the 10D in every way possible. lenses: 17-55/2.8 Canon 17-50/2.8 Tamron 15-85/3.5-5.6 Canon or go for a wide angle and a couple of primes. 10-22 Canon 11-16/2.8 Tokina 8-16/4.5-5.6 Sigma 24/2.8 Canon 35/2.8 Tokina 35/2 Canon 50/1.8 Canon Canon's new 40mm/2.8 STM pancake seems promising for $200. |
