Friggery fuck that's hot for this time of year!! It's gonna be a good summer if that's an indicator!

/Looks forward to sweating in a kilt.

Chris...

I think that was our summer...

Sonik: if you recall the fire last year down my way, it rained for a few days after that one, and it still burned for a few days after the rain.

If you all recall at York Redoubt, there was that highly maintained steel door near the back of the fort near the church.
I went back there today with AlexMcC and his friend, looks like some local idiots smashed it open.

Ok, so they're not in order...but:

#1) Top of fuel tank for generators
#2) Entrance open
#3) Generator pad A
#4) Generator pad B
#5) Bottom of fuel tank for generators
#6) Pillar in middle of room.

Very interesting site. I was out at York during the day once when it was open, however had no idea of the adventure it would be at night.

Going off topic, would love to see some pics of the halifax rehab.

FYI, crews will at at Point Pleasant Park this week clearing trees away from Fort Ogilvie and Cambridge Battery. This is to prevent trees from falling on and doing damage to the fortifications.

Might this mean that there could be some plans of restoration to either fort?

I'd say highly doubtful with that much damage done already. Makes one sad.

Neither of these fortification are really damaged, though.. But they're likely falling apart inside and would cost millions to bring them back to a condition that allows access.

These forts were welded/bricked closed and mostly forgotten about.

I'd still love to know how the pics from inside Fort Ogilvie were taken. As far as I remember, the building has always been welded up.

The building that you are talking about at Fort Ogilvie was the battery command post. I believe that it dates from the early 1900's update to the fort. It consists of 6 rooms on 2 levels the largest being the observation gallery on the upper level. The extents of the structure are what you can see when standing on the roof. I have a few pics which I've included of the interior. Pic 1 is the top of the stairs. Pic 2 shows the mount for the range finder. Pic 3 is another shot of the observation gallery and Pic 4 is one of the rooms on the upper level.
