They're light emplacements. The foundations getting so washed out around the three at York Shore Battery, they'll be falling into the ocean sooner or later.

I'm guessing they would have been to house machine guns or something similar, do you know? The structures seemed really unsafe when I went, the area is now fenced off as of several months ago it didn't used to be.

I think they just housed lights. Big search lights.

What area is fenced off now specifically? The whole of York Shore Battery had been fenced in a few years ago. I'm wondering if the three light emplacements now have their own secondary fencing?

All three emplacements had large searchlights, there's still just the one fence that was placed there a few years ago. Although, if you walk down the shore past YSB about 30-40 metres, there's an old generator bunker up on the hill/cliff that also once housed a 4.7in gun.

EDIT:
The only guns along the shore were the two 12-pounders that were transferred from Fort Ives in 1939, and they were replaced with 6-pounders later in the war.

The bottom section with the outpost and little rooms has been fenced off, but you can easily walk around the fence.

That's York Shore Battery. IIRC, it's been fenced off since before those retards had a rave there.

I love the kind of fencing that says "hey, we tried to stop you" but makes only minimal effort to do so.

York Shore has been fenced off since about 3-6 months before the rave. There really ought to be another fence on the other side to keep people from getting to the light emplacements. The earth beneath the third one (farthest away from battery) is almost completely gone now.

The old church below York Redoubt has now been converted into a private residence.

That would be a hell of a house. I suppose nobody will be able to park up there anymore.

I saw the 'for sale' sign and tried to communicate with them to pretend I was an interested buyer, so I could check the place out and take pics. But they never called me back

I took a run out to York Redoubt today. Went to the tunnels, cave and then down to York Shore Battery.

More graffiti than I remember, but it's more or less the same. One tunnel is open, the other isn't.

It was busy out there this afternoon. Everywhere I went, someone was already there, or on my heels. With the exception of York Shore Battery, I didn't see anyone on the path on the way there, nor did I encounter anyone inside the fence. Maybe it's working as a deterrent after all.

Pics, more here.

Great images, that spider will make me think twice about going into that tunnel though!

The church at the Redoubt has a 'Sold' sign on it now. I fear that there will be a fence and possibly weird cultists making the back entrance impassable soon.

Also, did anyone see this place at the Redoubt before? I found it a few days ago while GeoCaching, and I haven't spotted it in the DB:

No Graffiti. No trash. Is this possibly a new find?

Although, it may be best to discuss it in a more secure thread as it looks undisturbed and its best to keep it that way.

If that's off the beaten path, please don't draw us a map here!

It has what I thought was a deer path leading to it, so other people know it exists (even if those people are Parks Canada). There's not a bit of garbage or graffiti inside, so it's either a whole new find or it's hidden well enough that the hooligans don't know where it is.

It's not far from the road, but there's no obvious path leading to it. I can put up a gallery in the DB as part of York Shore Battery, so it'll only be available to full members.
However, there's not a lot to it and the pics I put up already show you most of what there is to see. I'm not sure it warrants it's own gallery.

Thoughts?
