| | | Posted by samsam_rawr homecoming? i haven't finished it yet but i agree. it's still great, no doubt, but isn't as good as the second one. oh! you kind of get to do some draining in it... kinda sorta.
|
I haven't finished it yet either. I bought it when it came out in October (?) and I played it for a while until my school work started to take over my life. I am going to finish it when things quiet down though. I think I'm still stuck at the police station, I can't get past all the creatures in there without wasting all my ammo. Other than my one complaint, it is a really good game. I just don't think it meets the standards of the previous ones. Edit: On another note, to anyone who is interested, I also have Grand Theft Auto 4 and when I started playing it I found an abandoned fun house at the amusement park but you can't get inside. I was wondering if anyone downloaded the Lost and the Damned. I was hoping that it would be accessible with the add-on. [last edit 4/21/2009 6:35 PM by Mr_Civil - edited 1 times]

| | | Apparently, no one played Left 4 Dead. This hospital was so realistic, it felt like explores I have done in real life. The details are great. It's full of graf, notes, broken everything, ransacked and overturned furniture, barricades, etc. There's also draining - as you go through the sewers. 1.
2. These really don't do it justice, but no one really takes pictures of the cool "abadoned" shots, they just want action shots.

| | | I loved all the Silent Hill games for the creepy exploration as well as Fallout 3.. (I've been playing that non stop lately yet I don't want to beat it for reasons some of you may know) By the way, maybe a little off topic, did anyone else love using gamesharks for walk through walls codes? I always liked to see the places you werent supposed to be able to go (like an out of reach doorway that you werent meant to use, test areas, etc...) I got banned from a certain online game for using a wall hack because I wanted to see blocked admin rooms.. lol [last edit 4/23/2009 2:15 AM by Kwin - edited 1 times]

I want a wall hack for real life exploring. It would make things a lot easier. Wow, I'm a nerd.

My friends and I play that game occasionally, although I'm terrible at it. I like it though Don't forget about Gears of War 1 and 2. Those games and graphics are incredible!

QFT. I've never played a better game when it comes to the "feel" of abandonment, and the landscapes & buildings etc. I can't recommend a better game for UE-ers. Fallout is right up there as well; I'd rate it just s smidge below STALKER. (here's a few screenies, however they are not nearly the best. Should give you an idea, though)

| | | Silent Hill is basically exploring nothing but abandonments so I couldn't believe no one really said anything. Another good one (but I'm not sure it counts) is Devil May Cry. The whole game is basically exploring and (almost constantly) fighting your way through an abandoned castle. There don't seem to be to to many but they always do tend to be rather good and, more often than not, pretty damn scary.
Oh I'm sorry. Did I break YOUR concentration! |

| | | Another great abandonment game: Ico, for the PS2. In my humble opinion, it's one of the best games ever. You're a kid in an enormous abandoned crumbling island/castle. It's empty other than a few "ghosts", and a strange girl you try to help escape with you. All you do is explore & try to figure your way out. The graphics are great, but the main thing about the game is the feeling you get from playing it. I've never been so immersed & drawn into a game before or since. The scenery & ambiance are killer. It's like playing a dream, or something. Very highly recommended. Wiki quote: "Ico is listed on several overall top game lists, and is often considered more a work of art than a video game." Couldn't find any decent screenshots, though. But you may want to check out this video for a glimpse at how the game feels: [Spoiler alert!] (awesome scene starts at 2:10) http://www.youtube...IY&feature=related [edit] Link to the game's official site. I'm kind of surprised it's still around, as it's quite an old game. Just shows how much of a fanbase it still has. Well worth checking out. http://www.icotheg...om/en_GB/index.htm [last edit 5/23/2009 7:06 AM by Ansion - edited 4 times]

| | | Half Life 2- at some points in the game i felt like i was exploring them. and looked like photos i stare at here on UER. CoD4- the Chernobyl level was well done. fallout3- yes. and GTA4- many abandoned places that were pretty fun to "explore" ... but as far as any game ive played, HL2 takes the cake at making abandoned locations worthy of an exploration. i used to be exploring and think to myself"this place looks like im in a video game level. now ive been thinking the other way around [last edit 6/1/2009 9:28 PM by Chris-Kicker - edited 1 times]

| | | Nova Prospekt is definitely the most interesting abandoned thing in HL2. There's also some more abandoned stuff in the latter episodes. Mostly more houses and apartment buildings.
