| | | Posted by soundchaser Project Eden (PC/PS2) http://en.wikipedi.../wiki/Project_Eden A sort of obscure action/adventure game with huge emphasis on exploring the game's cyberpunkish environment. Lots of abandoned industrial and urban areas. Plus - you get to control a cool cyborg that looks like RoboCop! I love it and recommend it to all of you.

Ohhh, I played a demo of that waaaaay back. I've been trying to find the full version ever since, to no avail.
And to add to the pile: the AquaNox series... these are still my favorite games to date. All things considered (except the english voice acting), they're just incredible, and unfortunately bring a new meaning to "underrated". There isn't any of what you'd call UE today; the game plays in a post-apocalyptic world where humanity has had to move to the bottom of the ocean to be able to survive, after bombing the shit out of the surface.
There is a ton of cool architecture and level design that really create some of the same atmospheres as exploring an abandonment does.

| | | I'm surprised I haven't seen some screens and a nomination for Metro 2033...my fav fps on pc that I've seen with a post apocalyptic theme and tons of exploring to be done. Takes place in an old metro system but you also get to go up to the surface too and see the destruction and stuff:
and of course the mutant monsters:
Honestly though, those screenshots don't do the game justice because not all of them are of the game at it's highest resolution, partially because a lot of people don't have a computer capable of running it at the highest..mine can't otherwise I would've taken some screens myself. I've seen some screenshots where I honestly thought they were urbex photos but they were screenshots...I couldn't find them though cuz theres alot more out there now but the graphics look amazing on highest. You tube it if you have the time, it's a great game to look into if you haven't played it yet. [last edit 7/2/2010 11:28 PM by urbexinc - edited 1 times]

| | | Condemned: Criminal Origins and Condemned 2: Bloodshot are the best games featuring abandonments since nearly all of the levels take place in the incredibly detailed and creepy abandonments while beating crazed homeless people, drug addicts, living mannequins, and many other enemies to death is the norm. Hell, the whole of both of the games is practically urban exploring. They're a must for the UEr. Fallout 3 is also really good along with GTA IV, STALKER: shadow of chernobyl, Manhunt series,Alan Wake,Red Dead Redemption, and Half-Life 2. Bioshock 1 and 2 and the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion are also good examples

But Silent Hill and STALKER are definitely my favourites out of the games I've played containing abandonments. Will have to check out Metro 2033. Looks awesome.

Amazing game...so much fun if you like puzzle adventures or survival horror...takes place in an old abandoned castle...there are demons and stuff too but you have no weapons and you have to find ways to bypass them or hide from them and you can also go insane if your in the dark too much...really reminds me of urban exploring except replace demons and zombies with cops and homeless people or thugs, and replace the tinder and lamp oil with batteries lol ...not many games creep me out but this one has some intense moments so far from what I've played. But heres some trailers too: http://www.youtube...atch?v=u1nY_5-UrY4 http://www.youtube...atch?v=h-Yu8OJJYmA http://www.youtube...atch?v=M627-obxNzg [last edit 10/20/2010 6:06 AM by urbexinc - edited 2 times]

| | | Fallout 3 is by far what i think of when i think of a UE game. Hell i spent 100 hrs just exploring random places before I even started the storyline. I find myself thinking of Mirrors edge though the most while exploring. I really think it helped me to look at buildings in a different way so that I can infiltrate them. Just today i used a dumpster to get to a fire escape and then climbed a pipe to get onto the roof of a 3 story school. (The stripper spin slide back down was priceless). Lastly turning this around I found this in a abandonment. I was pleased
