Then you'll be interested in my new invention. I have taken a construction helmet, duct taped two halogen spotlights to it and wired the lights to two car batteries for maximum power. The batteries are held in a backpack; all together this weighs no more than 45 pounds. You'll have to be careful not to look at anyone while wearing this though, the heat produced is sufficient to set hair on fire.

| | | It would be excessive if I actually did carry around that rig. I was being mildly sarcastic when I posted that. It would be nice to have some light weight version of that though.

| | | Surefire makes incredible lights if you are willing to invest the money. this company supplies the military and FBI, so thier products are top of the line. Also, if it breaks (excluding batteries, and lamps) they replace it, no questions asked. I currently own an E2d, which is 2 litheum celled, about the size of a AA maglite, with a 65 lumen output (as bright as a 3 c celled maglite). although my light is powered by an xenon bulb, they also make a variety of LED lights that are also extremely bright. One of thier lights has a xenon bulb and then 3 LEDs for high and low light. Check them out www.surefire.com

I have a Brinkmann Maxfire LX, which cost $20 at Wal-Mart, comparable size to E2D and brighter than E2D. It is made of plastic, but the weakest link to abuse while use is still the light bulb. It also runs on 2 x CR123A. You get to say "I have a Surefire" but other than that, the difference is $20 vs $110. reviews- Surefire: http://www.flashli...s/surefire_e2d.htm Brinkmann: http://www.flashli...mann_maxfirelx.htm
Posted by Hellbore When I went draining with Chronos the other day he had a brand spankin' new Inova X03 that he got for an early Christmas present. It was impressive how bright it was but mostly, it was a throw monster...That thing had some serious optics and the beam had a VERY long throw. I want one...
|
I think I know the one you're talking about. Target sells the XO3 in "try me" type package and I played with it. I think you'll like the Streamlight Luxeon 4AA light even more since it throws even further.

| | | Posted by darth_operator My favorite lamp is made by Petzl. Also, everyone I UE, and camp with use Petzl headlamps and swear by them as well.
|
Definitely. Petzl Headlamps are the way to go if you're looking for quality. Especially the ones with LEDs and a halogen spot. I have a Myo3 with three LEDs and a spot and it's perfect. The spot is strong enough to light up objects far away, yet the LEDs provide decent proximity-lighting, for example if you're fumbling around with your camera, rappeling equipment etc. Edit: btw, i use it for UEing as well as for hiking, some night-mountainbiking and jogging. -Zwobot [last edit 12/19/2006 10:42 PM by Zwobot - edited 1 times]

Interesting first post. Think I'll just use that link you provided and order a dozen, maybe 2 dozen, what the hell it's Christmas. Think I'll have some spam for breakfast too. It's hard to believe just how good gelatinous, congealed spam can taste, even after soooo many times. Welcome to UER.
|
Hahahaha! Interesting ONLY post. I'd say you nailed that one.

| | | RiverRock 2AAA from Target is very good. When used with rechargeable battery, the low mode is just bright enough to see and very good for discrete use and on high, it's bright as a regular flashlight. This thing is very light weight and you can hardly tell you have it on and it's less than $20.
