This isn't a rumor, my friend Russell lives in Clarksville Maryland and loves UE as much as I do. I asked him to go check it out and the fucker is burnt down.

FUCK!

I am a noob around here (actually to UE in general), so I know there's no reason for anyone to believe me, but the fire is most definitely a rumor. My friends and I decided on Henryton for our first outing, and after spending 3 hours there tonight I can verify none of the buildings have been burned down.

In fact, they seemed surprisingly active. While we were extremely cautious of what we were doing - and respectful to say the least - there were literally kids filtering in and out all night long, starting bonfires and parking in groups right at the entrance. Granted, based on the discussions we had running into them, none of them seemed to be people into UE (just people looking for a place to party and destroy stuff), but I was still surprised at how much attention they were willing to draw to themselves. You could hear them banging around and yelling all the way from the main road.

Anyway, it was still a good time and I think I got some decent pictures out of it. I just hope our next exploration is a little less populated.

Explain the article?

Several people on this board are masters of photoshop, a screenshot and a few minutes and the image could easily be created.

Fact of the matter is, I had a friend go to Henryton yesterday and the main building was still there, no fire damage.

A little more vandalized than a year ago, but she's still there in all her glory.

Why is there a need to create "drama"? April Fools day was months ago..............

Henryton lives!

Whenever someone posts a "article" with no url you can be sure it's bullshit.

Anyway she's still standing albeit in a considerably more vandalized condition.

Oh and someone removed jonny5's notes from the walls.
The drywall was literally cut out!
I was floored.
Sorry I don't have pics. Didn't take any.

It amazes me that some people have such a causal attitude towards history.
Henryton may not be as "cool" as other locations, but it's still history incarnate.

My bad, I play nice. I thought I was posting on UER.

My mistake

I believed it at first too. but unlike others, when I found out it was a joke I laughed. It was funny.

Color me tasteless

**Additional: If you cared so about how much henryton, you would allow other people to believe it so to curb some of the rampant vandalism. And henryton lost any real history when it was turned in to Maryland common knowledge and everyone and their mother started to go there to start fires and break shit, now it is just a trashed building.....Thanks, Roland by the way.

I was thinking the same thing myself, too bad the fire post was a couple years too late. Many of the vandals are locals though, or others who didn't need to see it here to know it was there.

If you really care take an active part in stopping the vandals. State police aren't interested in arresting you for mere trespassing if all your doing is just that. They are interested in arresting vandals and/or looters. They will aggressively persue these criminals in many states because these people many times vandalize/steal from multiple locations. Many of these offenses are felony crimes.

Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in.

Ok Ok
I may have gotten a little sensitive there, but I really care about the future of these buildings.

Actually that's the reason I didn't post anything debunking the rumor until it was already debunked.
I figured If the rumor stuck (however unlikely that was) it may do some good.

All in all I think that with a mean spirited prank spookydan has just brought more attention to a location that doesn't need it.

as for your jab at Roland. Posting in the LDB isn't the only way to give a location away.

I doubt the poorly made article and rumor attempt would have gone very far. Most of the people doing the damage use other sites as means for information also, when those sites all local papers yeilded nothing they would have been smart enough to figure it out. If anything people would be more interested in going and checking it out, several people on here expressed that.

And I remember before it was on UER, it was starting to hit every ghost hunting web site in a three state radius and they had no second thoughts about giving away the exact location. But other than that, fuck you Roland.

Only Henryton? Isn't Glenn Dale one of your favorite places?

And speaking of Glenn Dale, since you want to play the blame game, look at this shit I saw last time I was there...

So Henryton burned down?

Thats strange, seeing as how I was there this afternoon for the first time!

I've never even heard of Henryton and I generally stay away from HoCo as much as possible(no offense hos). It was fun at first but the main building is extremely dilapidated now, stairs are falling apart, holes in all the floors, and I almost made a new hole in the auditorium.

But as my first abandoned building experience, it was pretty good.

The amount of destruction did bother me though as it seems like the building could be absolutely amazing if it had been kept up (and if people weren't assholes). I remember going into a bathroom, looking at the sink and going "Goddamn this place is old!" It would be amazing to see renovations go through, or to just see a community effort to clean the place up at bit.
