Hello UER longtime no see. Just back for a visit and to check out the old Armory post. HAH! I've explored TCAAP many times since I last posted here and man, I can't believe some of you dorks on here. Fist off there was absolutely no patrols back there ever! We went in broad daylight every single damn time too. The closet there is to a patrol is one city worker who occasionally sits at the water treatment building during the weekdays, and he leaves at 4pm in his white city truck. Not in his humvee full of ghille suited security personnel and dogs. Patrols my ass, classic blow hard comment from someone who has never been there. Secondly, scrappers? Are you serious? The gov't scrapped the shit out of that place when they closed it. You would be hard pressed to find a dollars worth of copper in there, pipe or wire its all been ripped out years and years ago. Fucking scrappers? hey another reason to passive/aggressively shame people for posting something about exploring on an exploring website.

Now I somewhat agree with statements regarding not over exposing a place to avoid the problems associated with over expo, but the majority of people posting that type of shit in this thread don't have any first hand exp. with the place. If you've been back there you'd realize theres nothing to over expose. Kids already graff'd the one or two front buildings, but being graf'ers and not explorers that's far as they went. The rest of the place is pretty vandalism free, but its already beat up so it would be hard to even distinguish whats vandal and whats mother nature.

Anyways, just wanted to come back on here and let all you speculators know that you were all way off with your assumptions. Patrols hahahaHA! Nobody would give a fuck if they found you back there exploring. And the only guys who would even be able to maybe see you back there are city workers and thats only if your at the water treatment or in the way back were you might see a small dump truck or a bocat being picked up/dropped off.

And to the guy who thought it would be cool to play paintball in the armory- we played in one of the buildings and it was fucking sweet!

P.S.- FBI/CIA/NSA when you read this and decide to come arrest me please try to schedule it for Tuesdays or Thursdays as thats what works best for me-thanks

Damn. Do you just wake up in the morning, look in the mirror, and say "I'm going to go post like a big douchebag tool today," or does that just come so naturally to you that you don't even notice you're doing it anymore?

Based on a true story (no I wasn't there, just heard about it from everyone who was).

I have been to TCAAP without incident, but... The local yetis do training excercises there on occaional weekends. Partly on the adjacent NG land and partly in the buildings for urban Bigfoot training. Because today's Sasquatch has to know room clearing, sniping, and other skills in addition to the old skills of posing for blurry photos!

I've personally been to some sites like this in Alaska which are usually just like ThatguyinMN said... deserted and easy. It's that one weekend a month, two weeks a year kinda thing when you get chased out by dudes with rifles that gets your heart pumping... at least it did for us!

So you're partly right, you won't run into trouble 100% of the time, but you might occasionally get stalked by shrubbery.

Big foot is quite scary. Whats worse is when you want to go back and figure out what exactly it was, but there are a few people who are actively shitting their pants.

Couldn't have put it better myself. Are these the same assclowns who thought it was super rad to play paintball in Bureau of Mines, causing officials to actually backfill the entrance with tables and doors and shit? Brilliant fucking douche bags.

I played paintball in some WWII bunkers in high school, it was great until we came back years later and realized paintballs don't wash off indoors, you could still see exactly where I had ambushed some guys

I also nearly burned down an abandoned building with a smoke bomb while playing paintball, that sucked.

It's fun as hell but I'd hesitate before doing it in a UE site again.

I was visiting a friend in Andover and this was on the way so I thought I would stop and check it out.

I discovered there is a security guard who drives the outside perimeter in a silver Ford Taurus. I drove by him when I was checking out the area behind the municipal buildings on the south end and he proceeded to follow me. I drove the entire perimeter again before I got sick of him following and I broke off. I then went back and with a little common sense found a poe that many had obviously used before. I only had about ten minutes inside before I had to leave and meet my friend but it was still interesting.

Also, this was my first day wearing a pair of Vibram Five Fingers. I don't know how safe they would be for exploring because of the risk of sharp objects poking through them. Anyone else have experience with them?

I live in the area, and people are being quite reckless there -- enough to make their way into police reports and visible graffiti popping up at the site. Once upon a time, my friends and I could explore there without being disturbed. However, now we stay away. It seems that interest in that site has increased lately. It probably doesn't help that the mystery is taken away with people posting photos of their activities online, or the new "AVAILABLE" signs which have sprung up, or the news articles about this place in the Red Star Tribune.

Anyhow, local authorities have been keeping watch on this area. Fence sections surrounding the area which apparently "come loose" are mended. Grass around the edges is mowed.

And a friend of mine who is in the military has been in those buildings before; they still are used -- just not for manufacturing munitions. Talk about being chased by a bush may be funny, but it's also true. The guy I know has thrown off grenades in the arsenal manufacturing buildings as part of his practice.

All I'm saying is to watch out, because this place isn't as abandoned as some seem to believe. Here are some snippets I pulled out of the police report in the past month.

SEPTEMBER 10, 2010:
Sheriff’s deputies stopped and identified two men at Hwy 96 and Snelling Avenue Thursday, September 9th. The men were on bicycles and one of them was looking through binoculars at a building at Twin Cities Arsenal Plant. Because of recent thefts of copper pipe and burglaries in the vacant building there, deputies checked the property and found an open loading dock door and evidence that people had recently been inside the building.

SEPTEMBER 8, 2010:
Stolen property was recovered at the Arden Hills Ammunitions Site, 47xx Hwy 10, about 10 a.m. Friday, September 3rd. Maintenance employees chased off suspects from the site. The suspects had been cutting and stealing metal.

AUGUST 20, 2010:
A theft occurred at the Arden Hills Ammunitions site, 47xx Hwy 10 Tuesday, August 17th about 11 a.m. Two suspects were seen stealing metal wire and fleeing in a white Ford Crown Victoria with a blue top. The suspects are B/Ms, 30 – 40 YOA, 180 – 200 lbs. One suspect is 6’ – 6’2 and the other is 5’10 – 6’.

Ooh, can we start rumors that it's a FEMA death camp for yuppies? They'll round up the ones stupid enough to buy condos in the floodplain, put them in cages in the abandoned buildings, and let them mutate from the leftover DU. It's the logical solution!
