actually the building in the last part of Blade Runner wasn't abandoned. It's called 'The Bradbury Building' and it has been featured in several movies in varying states. It has a definite appeal and looks great on film. As for Night of the Comet... there's am movie from my childhood... "Daddy would've gotten us Uzi's." Samurai

| | | Well, if we're just talking abandoned, The Quiet Earth is a good one.
The Quiet Earth (1985) A man wakes up to find himself literally alone in the world, and goes about trying to find other survivors, as well as to find out what happened. He suspects that a government research project he was involved in had something to do with the disappearance of everyone. Eventually he finds several other people, and once they begin to trust each other they try to figure out why they were left on earth. |
mutantMandias may cause dizziness, sexual nightmares, and sleep crime. ++++ mutantMandias has to return some videotapes ++++ Do not taunt mutantMandias mutantMandias is something more than human, more than a computer. mutantMandias is a murderously intelligent, sensually self-programmed, non-being |

That was the intended result of documenting their existence in the first place. The 'making of' and other assorted extras on that DVD are worth watching. ::
