Hello. My name is Talino and I live in Montreal. I am new to this hobby and would like to get some tips about urbex especially during the winter months.

Hey, i'm SSTippy I'm new to the whole exploring urban areas thing, I have only gone out once officially but I hope to go out more. I am mainly interested in construction areas and have some skepticism of going to old abandon places due to asbestos and molds. I hope to explore a lot more in the future and share the "hypothetical adventures" I went on. I am in the Mid Atlantic area, in a very large city/town where it is quite hard to find cool run down places but I will try. I hope to meet a ton of new people! - SSTippy

Hey, this is SSTippy, Montreal seems quite cool, I have never been there but would love to someday! I wish I could give some personal tips but I don't have to much experience on my own. I recommend checking out the Rookie Forum and reading a lot there along with the very helpful tips. I wish you the best! - SSTippy

Hello, I'm a college student Florida and have began the incredible journey of Urban Exploration. My two buddies and I have already went to two spots. One was very popular, the other not so much, but we got caught by security. Again we're very new. Just trying to introduce myself into the community so I can get some helpful information, tips, spots, etc,.. I already do photography on the side so these two hobbies should coincide pretty nicely.

Hi, I am a college student out of Berkeley, CA. My friend and I have recently got into climbing buildings and structures, as well as exploring hidden areas in and around our college campus. Very new, but I though I might join the community to share tips and experiences.

Posted by Exho701 Chema here, adventure and Urban Exploration have always baffled me. Google earth has came to be my friend & I’ll spend hours just looking for interesting spots… once I find a spot, with in 30 mins I’m ready to leave & head for exploration ! I’ve had a few instances where im chased by rangers due to us Exploring Gold mines in the mountains. This community feels like a family, knowing that so many of you also enjoy the feeling of Illegal Freedom. I’ve hit multiple spots from this website unfortunately I’m still a basic member, best believe I will earn that full member with my flicks & contributions to this amazing community.

Welcome to UER. By the way, Google earth is my friend too (LOL). That's the way I find new storm drains and manhole covers as well looking around for them by driving/walking around different areas (LOL).

Welcome all new members to UER. I'm glad to see that there are a lot of people exploring new areas and finding new stuff to explore!

Hiya! Im Woo (not actually but for my own sake that's what you should call me), i'm a explorer from Toronto Canada! I love dance, music, painting or just really anything art related. I"m very active in the Toronto dance scene, and am always out and on my feet on a regular everyday basis. I enjoy getting lost occasionally to see if i could find something to explore. Hopefully we get along, I love talking to people no matter who you are!!!

Hi I go by Al and I'm in the Houston area. I am very new to ue but I've always been interested in it !! Anyways a small problem I ran into was that all the locations for Houston and Galveston are all outdated and there aren't that many places that are accessible in this area

Hello all I am excited to expand my journey into urban exploring. I’m hoping to create my own zine with my personal photos and sell them at my local art stores. I am located in the Riverside area and love to run around in the tunnel drain systems and look for the hidden places around my city. Hopefully I can find likeminded friends here and upload my photos for my zine here as well.

Hey, I am new to the site and the hobby of Urban Exploration, and I'm excited but a little lost on where to start. I am from Wisconsin, and me and a few friends are interested in going out and exploring our cities and countrysides. I myself do quite a bit of photography, mainly sticking to landscape and astrophotography, but I'd like to expand this to a niche of abandoned places as well, and also just searching for places that tell a good story someday. I have explored and photographed a couple places already that I happen to have spotted by chance. I was wondering, since I'm from the Great Lakes region, where can I start to build up my trust and reputation with the site by posting photos exactly? Or should I create my own threads? I highly value any advice.

To start I'd recommend browsing through the FAQ/Rookie sections of the forum, plenty of advice there on finding spots- though honestly just Googling "abandoned places in [area]" will get you some decent beginner places to track down. As to your other part, the Midwest has a large active urbex community but they don't trust easy and can be a bit closed off to newcomers at first- nothing personal, just too many experiences with folks getting spots destroyed through indiscretions. Get out and explore stuff, make your own threads here to show what you've got, and once they see you're not a liability you'll probably get introduced. Just might take a little longer since there's not many folks in your area- most are from the larger cities.
"Sorry, I didn't know I'm not supposed to be here," he said, knowing full well he wasn't supposed to be there. |

I really appreciate your quick response. Since I'm from a city of about 66,000 I don't expect there to be many people in the near proximity, and I'd guess most Wisconsinite explorers come from Milwaukee. I'm actually happy to hear that the Midwest group is more strict, as it possibly means the sites located here are (in majority) still in decent shape. I'll share this info with the friends I plan to explore with and hope that we all will be accepted into this community properly. Also wondering; I am the only photographer out of the group and my friend does some stuff with drones. Can videos be shared on forums or is using drones frowned upon by the community? Thanks.

Nah, plenty of explorers use drones or even host videos on YouTube. It's trying to be a YouTube/Instagram/Tiktok influencer and the exploring style that comes with it that's frowned upon, not necessarily posting to the apps themselves.

Hello everyone, I'm Elliott and I'm relatively new to UE and am a little confused on where to start. I live in Oshkosh, Wisconsin and I just know that this area is littered with great places to explore. A few of my friends introduced me to the idea of UE and I'm extremely interested. I personally favor exploring places that are out of sight, and newer abandoned factories/city buildings aren't really what I'm looking for. I like photography and have been trying to get more involved in it recently, and I would like to be able to find and explore places that would 1.) be fun to explore, and 2.) make good subjects for pictures. I actively use Photoshop and would like more opportunities to edit and perfect my photographs. I really want to learn more about UE and I would really value any tips and/or advice!

Has anybody ever ran into any homeless people? If so how did you handle the situation.

Hello Hello! My name is Alexzander, happy to meet you all. I'm from Chicago but currently out in flint Mi, been checking out places here but soon enough I'm going on some trips to the south west and then back to chicago. I'm going to try and document some of the places I find on my own while out with friends. Anyone here interested in magnet fishing?
