the guy that burned the Koran was told of what his actions touched off... in typical fashion he didn't care.

Muslim fundies doing a great job showing the world that they really are the most dangerous of the wackos.
“You've got to remember that these are just simple farmers. These are people of the land. The common clay of the new West. You know... morons.” | |
I'm not defending burning a book, its dumb and doesn't prove anything. But on the same token, I sure as hell am not gonna say that burning a book justified the actions taken by the retards over there. Anything, ANYTHING, I do over here does not justify the actions of people thousands of miles away. Period.

Honestly, I don't know anymore. I wish we would just cut ties with the rest of the world, quit being the fucking police, and keep to ourselves till someone fucks with us.
That btw is my opinion. Your question is apples to oranges really. I can justify murder for many things, burning a book is not one of them.

Isolationism didn't work in the 20's and 30's, it's most certainly not going to work in this day and age, especially in light of how 'global' everything has become. But, I do believe that we should stop being the worlds' policeman and let someone else take over that role.

It's dumb, doesn't prove anything, and now has led to the murder of over 20 people. Good work, "Christian" preacher, just like Jesus said to do it!
You betcha | |
I wish someone would say to them "This is exactly the kind of behavior the west has come to expect from you." They're reinforcing the stereotype.

Burn a Koran, people die. Burn a Bible, people bitch. There is a difference unless your too dense to see that. |
Very simple and profound statement.

You are dealing with a different way of thinking, what the west would do doesn't even come close to mattering to them. They gladly reinforce the stereotype, it's call "terrorism." I in no way am defending the murders, but by the same token I am calling the so-called "Christian" preacher a fucking asshole for what he did.

Also we don't hold our beliefs as dearly as they do. We have a country full of christians who are taught love they neighbor then go out say how much they hate fags. we have people who taught to turn the other cheek and then go and firebomb an abortion clinic. the list goes on and on. most christian nations like to pretend to be oh so holy yet fall so very short of that. At least in muslim nations they are following their rules and laws. They walk the walk.

He may be an asshole, but he is not responsible for the murders in any way. Not in the least. And if the west doesn't matter to them, then why do they focus on us and our book burning preachers.

An act of hatred is an act of hatred. Period. To say he holds no accountability is just plain silly. He was told by multiple governments(including our president himself) that if he does this, people will be killed. They did not say that that was right, just that it would happen. He must have known that his actions would result in many deaths of innocent people because he did cancel it. Then he changed his mind and OMG... Guess what?? people were murdered because of it. He knew what was going to happen and he did it anyway. He may not have actually killed anyone, but he purposely insighted this violence with the knowledge that he was doing so. He is absolutely accountable for that. We need to turn off out western eyes and realize that there are other cultures out there and they do not see things like we do. If we are as we like to believe, the best nation... then we should be able to grasp that fact.

The "christians" that the media capitalize on are very much in the minority, so much that I've never met anyone like that or know anyone, or know anyone who knows someone like that. But the main reason those "christians" are like that, is because they WEREN'T taught to love. They were given the "religous rules" and set loose, never being taught God's love for sinners.

So why do you keep suggesting that we all follow christian law? Christian rules and laws are just as dangerous as muslim law.

How bout the people who actually KILLED over some damn book be responsible for any deaths. They would be the murderers, not him. He has a right to do that, they dont have a right to kill. How bout they learn to control their anger and develope some back bones and learn to "turn the other cheek", oh wait, they arent taught to be peaceful towards infidels.

There is no "christian law", and I never said to follow any such thing. Christians do no teach to wage war against infidels, BIG difference. And by dangerous do you mean having to adhere to morals? Because that's what christians do.

I would like to recommend a book for you: (Click on the pic to go to the amazon page for it)
Drawing from the traditions and teachings of the Prophet, Imam Muhammad Shirazi offers solutions to the issues faced by countries worldwide, especially issues of war and peace, nonviolence, social justice, and human rights. He also touches on the subjects of collaborative governments, freedom of expression, economics, and legal systems. His writings provide answers to anyone seeking clarity on these subjects with regard to Islamic beliefs and practice.

I am referring to the spreading of hatred against people who don't believe the same thing you do. The bigotry is also a big problem. Especially with you. There are very few real Christians, and you are not one of them.

i don't see it that way. i see so much hate an intolerance coming from the christian side of the fence. You live in Oklahoma, correct? How well received are gay people? Or are they fucking faggots? Queers? Ass rapers? I am not completely ignorant to the christian mindset and I do know that there is a very small minority of people who are christian that are not ignorant. But, the vast majority that belong to your faith are ignorant, intolerant and violent. The only thing to keep christians from killing people and raging like muslims is the belief in our system of laws. Also, it's a laziness in faith, as well. Christians are generally from reasonably well-off societies which translates to a laziness (?). This so-called preacher in Florida figured that he would take a cheap shot at a competing brand of faith with no forethought to the ramifications it would carry. And now, other people have paid the price. How could this idiot not know how muslims would take this shit? In that respect, i feel that this so-called preacher IS responsible for the lives taken during this latest muslim rampage. with muslims, they don't talk out both sides of their faces. They hate and hate big time in the name of their faith without trying to sugarcoat it or hide it. As you guys know, i think both groups are nutty and the actions taken by both brands this week confirm that.
