Damn, Gary, Indiana has ordered a lockdown. I've been planning a trip with some friends for weeks now and we had decided that tomorrow would be the day. But now, I just don't know.
As much as I want to do this trip, I'm just conflicted. They're still committed to it, but I'd hate to just bail out.
Any of you guys still exploring during this pandemic?

Not really. I did some allowed exercise and walked down to the industrial area to wander but that’s it.
I’m concerned that the virus is already prevalent in the homeless population where I roam and that my solitary wandering with occasional crossing of paths with a homeless person here, and a homeless person there, could result in my getting exposed. Or, even worse, that it’s not prevalent yet, and since there’s a strong chance I’m already exposed, I become source of transmission into the homeless population.
Stealth: adj. designed in accordance with technology that makes detection difficult. Wraith: n. A wisp or faint trace of something

Yea, tbh I was very concerned with having to take public transit so I could finish my final projects for the Winter Quarter. Even though train ridership had dropped significantly, I was still very cautious. Since that's over with now, I haven't gone out much except for groceries and exercise. But I'm worried that we'll run into homeless who may have been exposed to the virus or we may get stopped by the police just for being out.

I'm working 7-dsys a week.
I've never encountered homeless people in Gary. Street people from the welfare hotel that's across the alley from the church, yes. But not homeless people.

Honestly though, now I'm more worried that I'll run into police who may have been exposed to the virus rather than getting stopped by the homeless just for being out.

Yea, I haven't encountered any homeless in Gary either. Last two times I've been, never have I encountered people in any buildings.

Oh chill, find the humor in the situation.
There is nothing funny about blaming Asian people for the global pandemic. Maybe we should start calling it the American virus considering how many cases are over there and how miserable the Americans are at healthcare. Or we could call it the Trump virus so that your clown of a president actually starts concentrating on it.
It may all just be ching-chong ding-dong, "no tickee, no shirtee" jokes to you, but a G-7 agreement failed because the Americans insisted on the term China virus, and a White House official actually said "kung flu." Fuck them for making Americans think that is acceptable.

Nope, we're on a lockdown for at least the next few weeks and only allowed out for a handful of essential reasons, exploring doesn't come under that and it's just not worth the risk to you or others you interact with.

I drive a scooter so it's easy enough to go out without getting close to anyone. Exploring has become one of the safer things I do outside. It's certainly lower risk than going shopping, visiting the hospital, or walking around non-abandoned areas. I would probably be going out a lot more, but I'm recovering from surgery that has left me virtually bedridden.

define panic... came down with a nasty bug early Wednesday morning. abdominal cramps, pain in my kidneys, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, fever, chills... the whole grab bag of my body trying to fight off a nasty little invader. So, as I am laying in bed, I pick up my phone and start reading about the symptoms of covid19... and start to panic. So around noon yesterday, I decide this shit has gone on for long enough and call the ER concerned... the answer they gave me was understandable but not very comforting. Unless I was having trouble breathing or chest pains, I was to stay my ass home.
Today, Friday, I feel much better... but still, that panic, you know?
I'm amazed that he got 40 people stupid enough to come. The perception of this thing across our border, it's like night and day.
Bummed at home. The lake is finally free of ice (at my end anyway). Normally everbody'd be all horny as fuck this time of year, just itching to get out there and meet someone new. And here we all are, jerking off at home. So astoundingly lame.

Orthodox Jews. The party must go on. The COVID-19 cases in Northeast, Iowa are tied to Orthodox Jews going to a party in NY.
Yesterday, I stopped by the kosher grocery store to pickup my matzahs and was asked why I didn't go to the bris taking place that morning like everyone else.
Yeah, there was a massive party at someone's house and I'm somehow the bad guy for not going and for observing social distancing.
I'm keeping my seder-masochism to my immediate family this year, even though it's well known in the community that I have a yahrzeit Shabbos Pesach.

I agree. What better place can you be, other than places no one else are at?
