Are those soldiers? Here's the entrance to the emergency room at one of Korea's biggest hospitals. The tents normally aren't there.

Yes. They've been on the streets in the metro area for the last 2 weeks starting with containment zone in New Rochelle.

My $0.02: given that the economy is already fucked if I have the choice between broke and dead or broke and alive, I’m going to go with the choice involving being alive. For what it’s worth this site is showing that there is some success in curve flattening. I don’t quite know the source of the info but it seems numerically in line with the data sources I’ve seen. https://swell.life...attening-the-curve

There's still plenty of town to town and state to state travel. How would you feel about being broke, with no place to live, little or no food and being infected? The best they can do is temporarily slow it; it's far too contagious and wide spread to stop now. Only a vaccine will do that now I believe.

I’ve already assumed that’s a strong possibility. I still pick alive. I’m not prepared to sacrifice my desire to be alive at the feet of the money god. I don’t worship that god and see no reason to be a blood sacrifice to a god I don’t worship.

The information I received from UCSF stated back on March 11th we were well past the point of containment.
70% of the country will be infected and 1.5 million will die edit: additional info

By my understanding the goal of curve flattening is related to acknowledging that containment isn’t possible but reduction of cases still is.

All they were trying to do is lessen the angle of the curve so they didn't run out of medical care. Spread the same case load across a boarder time span. You don't have a choice between money and not getting infected in a pandemic with a highly infectious pathogen like this one. However the more damage to the infrastructure and economy, the more will needlessly suffer and die. You can take that to the bank... People who tell you otherwise are either inept or lying.

That's a flat out falsehood. Without containment and/or an effective vaccine you can't limit the the number of cases. This is simple stone cold logic. It's blooming out of control as I peck this out... https://www.google...nt-everywhere/amp/ This is one of the reasons we are fucked. Even without these numbskulls it still most likely be unstoppable. | I think you’re misunderstanding who’s money I’m referring to. It’s not mine. I’m referring to the CEO’s who dumped stock and pressured for no proactive measures to maintain their profits 2 months ago when we first knew how bad this could get. I am not willing to be a blood sacrifice to reopen the economy because of their greed and ineptitude. I don’t worship the economy and it isn’t my basis for making decisions.

I took it to be a given that we all understand that in reference to flattening curves reduction means the reduction of numbers in a period of time to prevent overwhelming the system. I realize I’ve probably been too immersed in this and should not assume this is common knowledge. No one thinks we’re stopping anything. Our economy was on its way to being fucked before this started. This is just the straw to break it. The numbers are growing but if you carefully review the data there is a sharp increase that correlates to increased testing numbers followed by a moderatedecreSe. It is still unknown what this will look like overtime and with increased access to testing. There are still grossly inadequate testing options. This is another failure by our leadership who could have made this a priority when offered kits by the WHO. Or the wealthy businesses bemoaning their losses could have ran interference in their own problem by proactively working on testing. Hell, they may have even been able to make it profitable! I have no respect for those significantly younger than I who have taken blasé attitudes toward this. They can, and will, die just as the rest of us can and will. Mardi Gras partiers and idiotic spring breakers traveled far and wide in the past month even though we knew they shouldn’t. Greed kept that movement happening. Greed by the partiers and greed by the businesses involved. Unfortunately no one will actually take this as seriously as they should until it threatens them personally or the death numbers skyrocket. Today, my team and I continue to operate. But, I am not sure how much longer. If we get exposed or one of us falls ill, we will have to close. The healthcare we provide is for a condition that doesn’t stop for covid-19 and our patients need us to be here. Our existence is to prevent pt who don’t really need to be at the hospital out of the hospital for as long as possible. My goal is to keep us providing services for as long as we can. The individuals who are pushing to return to normal threaten that goal. This has only just begun and we are already tired. MDs and nurses and support staff are already falling ill. As outpatient locations like mine are forced to close (and we will probably have to since stats aren’t on our side) more moderately ill pt who don’t need urgent or emergent care will pour into those systems. Our economy isn’t weathering this well no matter what.

Those are Air Force uniforms. NY Army National Guard has a Hospital Battalion in NYC. NY Air National Guard only has a limited medical capability and none of it is in the NYC area. There is something odd going on here. I'm not one to espouse conspiracy theories. A question is raised, why is the Air Guard here when it's not really their cup of tea?

Mortuary Affairs. In the Air Force mortuary affairs is a secondary skill. Ex-wife 1 was in the Air Force and her secondary skill was mortuary affairs. These are probably mechanics and whatnot that have mortuary affairs as a secondary skill.

You need more diversified business and news sources. The economy was doing better than it had for decades. The Saudis, Russians, coronavirus and the scared butthurts can't stop capitalism. That's what made this country the greatest in the world. The USA is on the top of the heap and will recover within a year or so under current leadership. Bonus, China's conduct will boost US manufacturing and greater sourcing diversification. China is fucking up big time and will pay dearly for this bs. This I guarantee. A more positive view point and real leadership: https://www.foxnew...onavirus-recession It's blooming as predicted. I expect it to be more widespread than the worst flu outbreak in the last half century. I expect to be exposed if not already. NYNY is a complete mess and it will get much worse. https://www.foxnew...by-state-breakdown
