3/4 ton with Cummins diesel is good for about 25 MPG.

I'm on gravel, but it's only a mile to pavement. About 2 miles to a town with a bar and 10 miles to a town with a Card-Trol. To get to a town with a grocery store and a Pamida is about 15 miles.

Wouldn't trade living here for anything, but faster internet would be nice.

Yeah sounds about like me I've got about 2.5 mi to get to a paved road 1 mi to a town with bar and 12 mi to a wal-mart. I wouldn't change a thing either I like being out away from all traffic and crap of a bigger city.

Wish I would have had the money for diesel. Cummins has a great thing going with their mileage and power. Too bad they never put anything but a 6.5L diesel in the burban it wasn't all that great.

6.5 TD were making 250HP 440 lbft stock. That isn't too bad for a 90's diesel.

If you mean 1890's, yeah that's great!? 38HP per litre = Terrible.

//I kid, I kid... I know the US was about 20 years behind the rest of the world in Diesel Technology at that point.
//Now it's only 5 years.

Oh fun; you have one TD tuner in the US of note. I totally hadn't even realised.

You fucking bet I would like to talk to him! TDi tuning is a fascinating subject; the gains you can get with simple mods can be mind blowing.

Anyone who does THIS:

http://www.bankspower.com/app/index/21

Is sure to be interesting to talk to. JunkYard, if you can hook that chat up, I'll even pay for the Big Macs!

/Then we'll probably shoot the shit on about how best to apply some of his knowledge and experience to the US Mass-Produced Diesel Market, which thus far has largely ignored it and which sorely needs it.

//And I'll also ask if he gets teased much having a girly porn-star name.

Chris...

We never needed to get up to speed, gas was cheap. People are picky, don't like the noise or smell. It's the American way, why change something until you have to and it's already been too late for years. Plus we even regulate cow flatulence, so ULSD and even tighter emissions have been killing development. It's stupid really. We're still waiting for GDI to catch on here.

Yeah there's not really anything wrong with them. I just wish they would have put a duramax or cummins in a suburban type body. I actually looked at several Diesel suburbans before I bought mine but all of them had too many miles, too much rust or the price was high.

If you ever get tired of the 8.1, check out Duraburb. This guy does Duramax swaps.

It's a bit if work, but a Caterpillar 3208 (Ford application models) will fit in a 2WD Chevy Suburban 2500. The front axle isn't quite beefy enough in a 1500 and although a 4WD is workable, it's a major pain. The air cleaner is the issue and you have to do a 2" body lift to be able to get the hood shut.

Taking a 5.7 Olds diesel and painting it Cat yellow and putting Caterpillar decals on the rocker covers and then putting it in a Corvette is jaw dropper.

That was MANY years ago and some people still call me the guy who put a bulldozer engine in a Corvette.
