I would love to make some trips to around NC and have friends here and in greensborro that would also be up for it. Let me know if any of you are coming to the area, I think A NC meet-up would be awesome. -Adam

| | | PTL is fun. I did a lil lookin around when i was there earlier this month. http://s176.photob...193/zzztech13/PTL/ Sorry, took those w/ the camera phone. I was sad to see they bulldozed the entire waterpark. There is security there so you need to play your cards right if they approach you. There is 3-4 different church's on that property now so it's definately active.

| | | Posted by m1ndl355 Also I almost forgot I have heard that there is an abandoned RELIGIOUS amusement park somewhere in this state. I used to have this book called strange us and it had a bunch of interesting places to check out in Nc. Anyone know anything?
|
I was there a few weeks ago. It's a pretty cool place. 99% of the amusement park has been torn down (except for a random seahorse, a clubhoouse sort of thing, and a life-size fake castle). The site is active, but security folks are very nice. I walked inside, security came by and asked what I was doing; I signed in the guest book and they gave me a tour of the place. It's pretty cool. I'm overly dramatic online AND I only explore for validation. I'm a double threat. |

| | | I reside in Raleigh and travel all over the state during the week, usually anything between I-77 and I-95. So traveling is no issue for me if anyone wants a partner sometime. And I would certainly like to learn a thing or two from some other NCers, as I haven't been exploring in a long while and I am a beginner photographer. -Les

| | | hey everyone. I just moved down to Charlotte from Virginia and I have no idea what is around me or how close any of these places you are talking about are. Back in Virginia I did quite a bit of urban exploring with some friends of mine, but they are still up in Virginia. Any new info you have would be nice, mostly just distances between Charlotte and points of interest.

I'm in Charlotte, too...well, I actually live about 30 min away from the city, but I go to UNCC five days a week. I've lived here for about ten years but I still don't know distances to most other NC towns! The easiest way I've found is to use local.live.com's driving directions. It'll give you an estimated driving time and distance to any two places.

| | | since my last post i've found some sites for durham nc: the first is the abandoned nursing home on mt sinai rd, near the carolina friend's school the second is the watts ear eye nose and throat hospital. since i've been there i think they've begun construction and have added security, but its worth a try for a dare devil the third is next to the graffiti'd bridge on duke campus, its a building with a few rooms in it, and then if you go around back and over the train track bride you can get to the roof which is pretty cool, but the adjacent buildings are usually active, so be careful (and lots of cops are around there) i've heard of that school in east durham and i'd like to explore it some time? any more details?

If you go check out that school be careful. The neighborhood nearby is not the best. I'd be more worried about any local crackheads than cops.

Decent looking location. I got some exteriors this morning and I will go back and spend some time in the interior later. Looks like I got to see it a little late since there used to be another wing that has been torn down a couple years ago. But still, nice little place. | | | I don't know why I didn't check this forum out when i got to NC back in '06. I'll be returning to the Fayetteville area during the spring, wopuld love to be able to link up with some of y'all and check out what this state has to offer. Is there anyone else from "Fayette-nam" area, or who knows of any locations nearby? it's going to be awesome being able to UE again

| | | ahhh, damn Uncle Sam, again. Unfortunately I'll still be in the sandbox mid February. Turns out a couple other guys in my unit also have a passion for abandonments and peeling paint, so hopefully we will be able to get a chance to come out to Raleigh and see what y'all have to offer there, as well as check out the locations around F-Ville.

| | | Hey all, I've just moved to the winston-salem area recently for school, and I'm looking for some places to go exploring. I haven't much time to go searching myself for places so any advice would be cool. Having lived in buffalo, ny for several years, I may have set my expectations a bit high and be setting myself up for disappointment. Though I definitely hope that is not the case!
