| | | I'm moving to Charlotte soon. I'd love to go exploring with anyone near there, but to be perfectly honest, I have no clue where Charlotte is in relation to the cities you're all talking about. Can anyone tell me more about these places to go? I'm curious. All I saw on my last trip up there was this tiny old auto shop somewhere around a bunch of new housing developments.

When you finally move to Charlotte, let me know. We're only 90 minutes south of you, and I have lots of friends in that area. They, of course, don't explore, so I have no idea what's up there. There is of course, the old PTL complex. But, I'd love to expand into that area.

How strange that you live so close to where I'll be living, and you once lived where I live now... I'll post here again as soon as I know what's going on. I might be moving in a month or in a year, no one's sure yet.

| | | Im in Charlotte as well. I only know of one spot so far that I have actually been to, there are tons more around. The place where I went is a smallish abandoned warehouse under 30th street bridge, at the edge of the train yards. It had tons of shit from old hotels, matresses, kitchen equip, and other random things. Anyone know of any good places in charlotte?

| | | I'm up in Boone and I'm always up for some exploring. I know of a high school in Lansing (out in Ashe county), a cool house near Jefferson, I've been to the hospital in Banner Elk a few times, and a prison in Huntersville. I really wanna check out Davis hospital.

Raleigh here....Dix hospital is still being used currently and will be for a time (next 2-3 years i imagine). There are two places i have explored on the property though. -The old orphange and sorrounding buildings that burnt down (crybaby lane) are just a street in the woods and field now (got spooked by some deer there a few months back). Some masonry in the ground still exists and you can see its layout as well. Never had heard any babies crying, but it is def spooky at times. -An old house on teh Dix property is to haunted as well. It is currently hoem of the NCSU Japanese Student Center but is patrolled by Dix security because it is right beside the youth facility. The old owner is buried out back and strange things anf noises are heard inside. Just some insight, but I cant wait till it is shut down. It will be so easy to get into as the property is HUGE and will have no fences around it. One or Two buildings may be empty now, but will have security for sure. If anyone in this area is up for a challenge, we have a few of us ready and willing to go. Just shoot an email at [email protected]

From: greywolf I live about 12 miles from the old PTL site and someone bought it out recently and, after they found a group of teenagers partying in the old hotel on weekends, they increased security considerably. I wouldn't recommend that site. There are, however, a lot of abondoned textile mills around the area (a lot of them in Gaston County) which occasionally are the scenes of some spectacular fires. Best wishes.

From: greywolf There are a lot of abondoned textile mills in the area around Gastonia, which is about 20 miles west of Charlotte.

| | | From: greywolf I don't know if it's still there but the old Flora McDonald College in Red Springs NC is interesting. I explored it many years ago, when I didn't even know what infiltrating was, and it was quite interesting, particularily the basement areas.

Gee they're closed. Before I-77 I use to go through there a lot. Still remember the pretty blue glass in the windows of one place. I had a relative that once brought home a piece of space suit from the place where she worked at in the area. From space to bust, the decline of western civilization.

I don't really know of too many places around the area but I just saw that there is "cry baby lane" at the dix hospital and I wouldnt mind checking that out. If anyone wants a partner to go check stuff out with message me and we can work something out. And if you have any info about any places in my area please let me know. thanks. ~ Meckface

| | | Oh dear it's been a long time since I posted here. So good to be back. Anyway, I was talking a while ago about moving to North Carolina...looks like it's not going to happen until next year at least, and then I'll be in college in Orlando while my family moves...it's safe to say I might spend a good bit of time there, still. Has anyone been exploring in Maggie Valley, or other little mountain towns like that? We drove through there once...it seemed like what wasn't abandoned looked like it was, and half the houses had their windows broken and doors wide open. Would've been like heaven, if my parents had let me go in anywhere. So, I'm curious...if anyone has been around up there, tell me your stories.
