| | | I'm new to the Boone area, and am looking to get back into urban exploration. I was wondering if anyone could post a quick list of good places to check out. Maybe after the semester boils down a bit, I might be available for group stuff. I was actually surprised to see so many people from this area registered here.

| | | My partner and I have been exploring Wilmington and its surrounding areas for a couple of months. Looking for others in the area interested in sharing info and getting together for UE sessions. The Cape Fear area seems to be filled with abandoned and operational sites that are just begging to be explored.

| | | I live in Asheville, NC. Does anyone live near or in Asheville that would like to get exploring sometime? If anyone knew about any good areas in the area, I'd like to hear about them. [last edit 11/28/2005 2:01 AM by Luke of the Wood - edited 1 times]

| | | I was wondering if anyone has explored Ghost Town in the Sky, the defunct (as far as I know) amusement park in Maggie Valley. It was closed in 2002, and I haven't read about a possible reopening; many buyers were put of by the age of the equipment and a few major ride malfunctions which proceeded its closure. Even when I was a kid Ghost Town seemed like a sad little park, but maybe it has something to offer now. Here are some pictures of Ghost Town right before it shut down.

| | | I just moved to Bahama (between Durham & Roxboro) about 4 months ago. So far I have found tons of old tobacco barns, slave quarters and condemned houses, but have yet to find anything extremely interesting like what I was use to back home and other places I've lived. (Originally from Macon, GA, also lived in Savannah,GA, & ColumbusGA/Phenix City AL (if anyone is interested in knowing about any places in those locations, send me a PM, I'll be glad to help)) I'm interested in old churches, hospitals, factories/mills, plantation homes, barns, cemeteries, mines, and tunnels (yes I know how dangerous old mines are) for photography purposes. I'm willing to travel up to 75 miles, maybe further if something really peaks my intrest. Thanks in advance!

I don't really know of too many places around the area but I just saw that there is "cry baby lane" at the dix hospital and I wouldnt mind checking that out. glad to have found you. i moved to raleigh a few weeks ago and have discovered some sites worth sharing. just had a crazy night friday on a building they're renovating/ripping apart on campus. i got to watch from 4 stories above as three not-so-stealthy infiltrators got busted because they failed to climb a fence. good times. also, there are some drains under k-mart and hillsboro st.; a couple abandonments downtown and some rooftops across from the courthouse i'd like to explore with someone else.

| | | Here's one. I don't know how to explain it well..since I was only there on vacation. From Kitty Hawk, head south towards Nags Head, and Cape Hatteras. You pass the Bodie Lighthouse(should be on your right) and keep going. You get to a LONG(!) bridge, and right at the end, on the left side is an old building. There should be a closed road a little further down(on your left) so just pull in and park the car, and walk up the road which is partially covered in sand. It appears to be an old U.S. Coast Guard building. At least thats what the emblem on the "tower" says. Anybody else know this place?

| | | And just in case anybody's wondering, Roland is a great guy and a hell of an explorer. So he's not an axe-murderer or anything like that.
He does, however, have a bad habit of breaking out with random movie quotes, but there's nothing specifically wrong with that.

Good times, good times. (Not the sucking part, the exploring part. Wait, that didn't sound right either. Oh well.)
