| | | Heres an active Kirkbride in western North Carolina that I went to yesterday. There's only a few small abandoned buildings on the campus, just enough to support my theory that every state hospital has something on the property that's abandoned. The Kirkbride itself is one of the "friendlier" and less intimidating ones that I've seen, it was designed by Samuel Sloan who also designed the Kirkbrides at South Carolina and Greystone State (which is coincidentally one of the more threatening looking Kirkbrides in my opinion).

| | | I go to school in Rock Hill (about 15 minutes south of Charlotte). There are a few old factories/textile mills/printing factories behind campus that I haven't yet visited, as well as a few buildings on the campus of Winthrop University that may be of interest. PM me for details. Ciscoubr.

I lived in Manteo for a year and a half! OBX rocks, well...it is expensive depending in where/how you live. I used to work for Blue Fin Tek in Kitty Hawk, was a fun job. Surfed, worked, slept, surfed, worked, slept. Anyways....sorry about the interruption.

oh durham has its few spots. the problem with durham is that all the old buildings are either under re-developement (downtown) or in neighborhoods where you dont wanna be seen walking around, cuz you will stand out to any police driving by. but there's a few nice rooftops, and abandoned spots. the american tobacco campus still has some buildings that you can access and rooftop with some ninja skills (theyve recently installed more 360 cameras in crucial spots). if you go to their website they have a schedule for when the security is around haha! duke has steam tunnels around east campus that ive been in, but it can be hard to access with out a duke card or something. theres a great abandoned school in east durham on driver street. me and a partner got in there once, but it was without flashlights so id love to go again. with my job i also get occasional opportunities to go in secured, disused buildings, to measure and photograph them (i work as an architect) such as this bulding in roxboro. i was suposed to be shooting for refrencing while i draw up the space. but i snapped a couple nice ones when i snuck upstairs.
most of the shots from my explorations are on my home computer so the rest will have to wait.

| | | ive also been accessing some great spots in greensboro. many are all in the same area. most recently we got into what used to be something like the biggest whorehouse in greensboro, the rose health spa. i found some info here http://thecrazyhip...in-greensboro.html "Incidentally, there is a project in the works by the great people at the Greensboro Community Art Collective to buy and restore the building on Lee Street that used to house the Rose Spa (a thinly disguised house of ill repute)." i got a few shots while there, i think theyre on my friends camera, ill have to get them. how we got in is almost laughable, but executed at upmost caution. we've also accessed the cotton mill square, the old jefferson pilot bldg downtown, this manufacturing place near the south end of battleground, the abandoned elementary school near the arboretum, and countless rooftops around the city.

| | | I'm in Asheville- Has anyone ever investigated the big gated "thing" on Town Mountain Road? I know you can see a castle-like building on the mountain itself, and I think that's where the gated road goes to, but I know there's a fence around the property. I've been curious about that place ever since I moved here
