Man, I love all the nautical metal goodies and the wood construction of these vessels! I would love to own something like this someday and spend a summer on it, out on the St. Lawrence or one of the Great Lakes, or even just moored at a dock!!!

fishing a whale hunting (now prohibed) are almost gone from this region of Quebec. New generation of all steel boat that requires way less maintenance are used today.

Some wooden Goelette boat are now being restoring, the other left on the shore are like this one slowly rotting away, or have been burned by young vandals.

Personally I prefer steel construction (especially if I was to explore it), but I'm weird that way. Wood is nice but just not my "cup of tea".

easter weekend I stayed in the hotel across the street. my friends and i decided to climb up the side of this ship and explore it. We opened the galley door and it looks as if someone is living in there or using it as a shop room.
