Yeah montreal got some much abandoned stuff... Actually it makes me sad to think that our economy is going down with all these companies moving out of here... oh well

I saw this crappy movie the other day on tv and most of the airport scenes where shot in mirabel. I dont recall the name of the movie, but it was about virus' and aliens futuristic what not. I just watched it cuz it was film in montreal. The funiest thing I think, it when they kept on shooting turcot as being futuristic, hahaha those are almost ruins!!!

-Battlefield Earth?
-Terminal? (no Aliens there though but lots in Mirabel)
-Sum of All Fear?

I'm prolly missing at least another dozen big hollywood productions shot in Mirabel...

Ho, and WORST movie ever in terms of "continuity" : Taking Lives. Angelina Jolie goes to sleep in Montreal, wakes up in Quebec City, take a cab in Quebec City, exits the Cab in Montreal and worst, worst line ever : (as the characters are in Montreal) "QUICK! He just took the train to Moncton - he'll be there in 3 hours". People in the cinema in Moncton all went WTF??? Montreal-Moncton trains are AT LEAST 16 hours, when they are on time, which never happens. Usually more like 20 hours. So if you ever find the 3-hours train that link Montreal to Moncton, let me know!

Yeah, I'd have to agree. I haven't seen a really great "shot in Montreal" film yet either.

The closest one I can think of is Chris Landreth's animated masterpiece "Ryan". The closing moments of that film, where Ryan is bumming for change in front of Schwartz's, and Chris waves at him from across the street, while Hugh Marsh is caressing the violin strings... never fails to rip my heart out.

If you haven't seen this film yet, drop the $3 at the CineRobotheque. If you're cheap, I suppose you could sign yourself up at CineRoute and view it online, but the compression detracts from the experience big-time.

"What possessed me to bring that subject up?"

It's great to be alive!

Since we're talking about Ryan, which is a NFB production and not a big hollywood one, I guess we can include all movies shot in Mtl. So...

You guys should go rent Eldorado by Charles Binamé. Greatest movie ever and completely shot in Montreal, without any scenario planned in advance. Great shots from the old Opera de Mtl building on St-Denis, great great symbolic (check out for the Train symbolic all throughout the film and the water symbolic).

That's one hell of a movie and Montreal is even a character in the film. Freakin amazing.

Robert Morin' movies are also pretty amazing, including the one shot in Redpath...

Ok for my crappy movie I went back on Mpix.ca to check out the schedual of that day to find the name of this shitty movie.

Sci-Fighters

1996 Canadian
Rated: R
3.8/10

Starring: Jayne Heitmeyer, Roddy Piper
In the city of Boston in the year 2009, a cop goes after a mysterious alien virus.
A fast-paced sci-fi adventure starring Rowdy Roddy Piper.

Roddy Piper faces a horrific enemy in "Sci-Fighters": methane-breathing creatures that hope for global domination.
In Boston 2009, he-man detective Cameron Grayson will stop at nothing to take out a rapist. To Grayson's terror, he learns that his quarry has contracted an alien microbe that changes its hosts into mutant sex maniacs. That way, the germ will spread and prepare the planet for an extraterrestrial attack.
Now Grayson must prevent the virus from taking over his fair Beantown -- and ravaging the world...( BORING! )

Ok so in this movie they film the city of montréal aded with some crappy lighting effects to make it look " futuristic ". They filmed turcot from st-jacques street, decarie highways from maisoneuve street, some rooftop in old montréal, some abandoned building, the abandoned hospital, mirabel, a building on cote de liesse as a futuristic hospital, la gauchetiere street and so other crap I can't recall.

Other then trying to figure out where the scenes were shot this movie SUCKED!!!
