The meet and greet yesterday had to be the best one I've been to yet, I had so much fun, I got sunburned but I would gladly get sunburned again to have that kind of day, oh it was wonderful.

The folks at Al's were awesomely cool -- they put the group in the back at a nice big table, provided great service, and seemed happy we were there. I suspect we'll be going back again, especially since the outdoor exploration spot nearby turned out to be full of photographic win.

Speaking of which, where are the pix? I'm starting to wonder if it really happened, or maybe I just dreamed up those mosquito bites.

There's a building consensus that we need to have a Sunday afternoon meetup, to accommodate some folks that haven't been seen in a while. Sounds good to me -- I'll just have to be sure to get laundry done on Saturday instead.

I was sure I'd make it to this one, then found out I had all 5 kids that day.

Now that I've created The Brady Bunch, the first weekend of the month is a weekend we will have all the kids at once... so I'm not sure how I will ever make it to another meet again, unless we're able to change it to the 2nd weekend.... or something.

I'm not sure if anyone is willing to do that just on my account, but I do miss going to the meets and was kind of disappointed I wasn't able to attend this one, especially since I was the one bitching about not having meets in Arlington anymore. *sigh*

I'm very flexible when it comes to scheduling, I work one of those 9 to 5'vers so I have every weekend off so I can attend any weekend of the month, and any day of the weekend, I support the Sunday idea because I would like to meet those who can't make Saturdays, we should try switching it, one month Sunday then the next Saturday, so that way everyone could win out.

And you were missed Happiedaze, I did my best to represent the ladies of UE though ^_^

I don't mind meeting on Sunday and would bother me if it was on the second weekend either.

That's the best of my park pics, I had pics from the drain we went to but I think I put enough pics up for one day, don't want to over do it plus I think it's time for some one else to share.

I'm pretty disappointed in mine for the most part. Came out too grainy, should have been shooting in a lower iso (I was shooting in 400). That and the fact it was converting to jpg.

We were talking about this at the park, and I just wanted to let you guys know I was just able to get my camera to shoot in raw using http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ
Pretty excited, so next time I go out I'll be able to actually shoot in a decent format that won't add extra noise!

some heavy post to remove noise and added lens blur

I'm pretty flexible.
The week of the month doesn't matter really, since I can't plan far enough ahead to accommodate that. Saturday or Sunday doesn't matter either, as I'm sure I can find a way to do whatever.

I think someone somewhere is going to make a thread about what happened after the meetup. I don't know how that is going though.
Sorry I didn't get my pictures up sooner. None of them turned out the way I wanted, again cause I forgot to switch the ISO. Next meet will have 100 times better pictures from me.

I wasn't there for the meet, but RobertB and I took our kids there to explore once:

Those are the only ones I had in my photobucket. The rest were lost when some a-hole purposely broke the external hard drive that all my pictures were on.

Here are another couple from that previous trip (posted with Mom's permission, of course!). The fence has been expanded since then -- as if *that* had any effect...

"What's that sign say, sis?"

"Sign? What sign?"

yeah, totally hopped that fence. Not much to see on the other side since everything is actually inhabited. It's been welded shut (don't know if it always has been).

And, I'll talk to L.D. as soon as I can, I dunno why it's taking him so long.

Didn't have that no trespassing or no hopping sign. I figure not.

I'll testify to that. The sign previously photographed was quite gone, and there were absolutely no indications that the black metal structure was anything other than an oddly-placed piece of workout equipment.

Meetup date: tentatively set for Sunday sunday SUNDAY May 3, but I dunno where yet, or when. There are a couple of interesting possibilities if we wanted to go out of town, though:

* Greenville, hosted by Ardamass, late. "Night of the Comet" action.

* Corsicana, hosted by BugPowder, afternoon. Shades of "Deliverance".

But most likely would be just hanging around the Metroplex:

* Al's in Arlington was good and cheap, but nobody came from west of the county line!

* Richardson's String Bean has been a winner (though they need to put us *all* the way in the back next time).

* Perhaps we should meet up in my neck of the woods -- there's a place called "Burger Style Café" that's awesome (and roomy), and there's some nearby drainage I've been itching to check out.

* Or how about something new -- all this 'splorin, and we haven't been to Oak Cliff yet. Hunky's Burgers in Bishop Arts (same folks as Oak Lawn) is delicious, and it's close to some interesting places. If we drive around enough, we might even find that truck with "barrykooda.com" on the back window.

Hmmm... I'm seriously leaning towards the Cliff. Any thoughts?

I'm up for anything, but I would like to go somewhere new, I really enjoyed both Als and String Beans, but we need to change it up so anywhere else on the list would be great. Oak Cliff works for me if that's what you're leaning towards.

I've been meaning to meet up with a group for a loooong time but haven't had the time to spare, or couldn't make it for one reason or another. One question though, and if a meeting does actually take place and I am actually able to attend, I suppose it could be addressed there.. FallenInWonderland pointed out a few drains and whatnot he wants to check out. So here's my question: Where on earth do people find these drains and tunnels and whatnot? I've seen amazing pictures of old stone and brick and mortar tunnels from the turn of the 20th century and I really want to see something like that first hand, but have absolutely no idea where to look... so, where?
