I took the Triumph out this afternoon for a ride South of the Cliff. I saw some interesting stuff and it was a really nice ride but when I spotted this huge bird nest on a transformer pole, I had to turn around and check it out. The primary residents are Parakeets (real ones; not Budgies) but there were also some sparrow squatters.

I'm a blatant waste of time and resources.

Wow! That is one crazy looking bridge! It looks broken.

I just realized in the picture, it looks like it might just be one bridge. It's actually 2 bridges beside each other. The one on the left is Rainbow Bridge, the one on the right is Veterans Memorial Bridge, over the Neches River.

I work the night shift and try to find interesting places I can snap a quick picture on my lunchbreak. Here is the Ben White@I-35 overpass in Austin, right by my office.

Wish I could make that sign in the middle of the picture disappear.

those are Quakers they are highly adaptable and are banned from ownership in kansas because of how destructive they can be to the crops. i have seen them in the wild in Barcelona, but not here.

those bridges look like a roller coaster. really cool but I would never drive it. scared of heights.

40+ year olds with Myspace pages are not cool, they are pediphiles on the prowl. Buyer beware.

I was at the gallery that sells my stuff and Manuel had delivered a new, bad ass metal sculpture he'd just finished. I had the gallery owner turn out the lights so I could play around. Too bad all I had with me was my Scorpion and no gels.

Cool pic! I actually rode a bicycle over that bridge back in 2003 on a bicycle trip....

I though I was going to be killed by the cars...they were driving so fast and there was really no shoulder....Had to basically take up an entire lane so that I didn't get run over....People were pretty pissed! as I'm sure you know, 99.9999% of Texas drivers are not very tolerant of bicyclists getting in the way of their cars!!!

If you have not written a story or book about that little trip, you should.

Quakers, Quaker Parrots, Quaker Parakeets, Monk Parakeets;
They're all the same. (Myiopsitta monachus) Most are from Argentina and surrounding South American countries, although there are feral communities all over the world. We have colonies in White Rock and a couple other areas. I only know of two nests South of Downtown but I bet there are more. They're noisy but I'll take 'em over Grackles any day.
