| | | LOL, I'm not totally worried, really. I think as long as I'm not touching the asbestos, there should be very little asbestos fibers in the air. Facemask should be the most I should be worried about. But I suppose that's why I'm here, lol. I've seen a lot of pictures with people with the facemasks on and kind of figured it was expected. If not for the asbestos, for the fungus and mold and God knows what else might be hanging around in there. You tell ME if I should be worried. :-p

| | | anything to keep some of the dust/mold/shit out would be good. i dont own anything for keeping my lungs safe while exploring..probably should and im alive. im sure it depends the places you'll go, and the people you meet. one thing that is obvious to bring along is cell phone.

| | | well my camera doubles as a cellphone. The flash is pretty ridiculous, so I'm hoping it's enough. We'll have to see. :-p I won't go 5miles from my house without my cell anymore. Too aware of the shit I can get into without it. I'm not relying on my cell, though; especially considering the places I'm going, I'm not totally relying on my cellphone to have any coverage.

| | | Welcome to UER! It sounds like you've got the basics down and a good head on your shoulders. I never wear a face mask... mostly because I left mine in another explorer's car over two years ago, but I probably wouldn't wear it if I had it. Only other thing I can suggest to bring is a pair of gloves. Just a word of advice, it is generally frowned upon to give away locations and names in public forums.

| | | Hi everyone! I'm from an area near Toronto Ontario, Canada. I've been interested in UE for years now but only recently have had opportunities to go out and wander around a little to see what's out there in my region. Can't wait to explore some more and will share pics when I have some of interest to share. Looking forward to getting to know some of you too!!

| | | Hi UEers! I'm not exactly a newbie, but I've been away for awhile and wanted to reintroduce myself. I'm in the Washington, DC area; newly moved from Virginia Beach. I love the city, but really miss the beach... I'm a biology major who's currently working in a job that has nothing to do with biology. Hopefully that'll change soon. I've always been fascinated by old buildings, cemeteries, ruins, etc. I was delighted to discover this site a few years ago and find that not only was there a name for this activity, but tons of others who enjoy it as well! I'm always looking for others who enjoy UE. I don't really have a regular group as neither my husband nor any of my friends are really into it Either in the DC area, or I also get down to Hampton Roads occasionally! Also I will be heading down to Hilton Head, SC in a couple of weeks and would love to do some UE on the way there or in that area. Looking forward to hearing everyone's stories, meeting new friends and getting reacquainted with old ones! Cat

| | | Posted by tc_villain Hi all. I was referred to your site by Freak. I came across his site after my interest was piqued in our local gold dredge history. His pictures and stories inspired me to visit many of the locations and even visit at least one dredge that he had not been to. Im really interested in anything abandoned and historic. Alaska is full of history much of it remote, but very worth exploring. I hope to be able to contribute some good stories and good pictures to other members and maybe become an inspiration for someone else.

| | | Hello everyone! I just signed up today, and while I have not gone on any exciting adventures lately I do want to jump back into it. When in high school I explored an old Hotel in Clovis, NM and every since then i've been hooked. I never thought id find a website dedicated to this let alone a fourm with meetups! Hope to hear from you all soon. I currently live in the Seattle area.

| | | Hi, all! I'm Happygirl from NE Oklahoma. I love exploring abandoned buildings and do so when the opportunity arises. Now that my kids are grown and I have all this free time, I thought I would get a little more serious about it. I have not actually done any exploring recently but I got a new job a couple weeks ago and now I drive by an abandoned open building every day and it's getting the best of me. Looking forward to learning from you all and hearing about your adventures. Happy exploring- and please, do share! ~Happygirl "The torment that so many young women know, bound hand and foot by love and motherhood, without having forgotten their former dreams." ~Simone de Beauvoir

| | | Hey, Just poppin in to say hi...Haven't had much of a chance to explore in an organized way (I've done most of my UE on the fly, of the "Hey, it's an abandoned house..And hey! Look, the door's open!" variety.) I don't know too many people who want to explore in my area (podunk Morris, CT)...at least not too many who go beyond the thought and actually do it, but when I do get a chance, I'll post any pics I get. Glad to have found the forum, and looking forward to hearing your stories...and sharing some of my own eventually.

| | | Helloo! I'm from Leeds, UK. I have just finished 5 years at University in Manchester. Towards the end of my time there I picked up a camera and somehow wound up interested in UE. A couple of rooftops and epic fails here and there, but after stepping into a drain I was a bit hooked on the experience. I managed to get a few done in Manchester and am hoping to take advantage of what my new city and area has to offer, especially with regard to the underground I'm fairly new to it all (I don't mean to plug!) but try and keep a blog of sorts of what I have done http://subexposure.blogspot.com/

| | | I'm very wise to UE, but not so much to this site. Nice to see things like this DO exist. Anyway, I recently came to New Hampshire to live for a bit, and havent had much to do but look at the mountains for a month or so now. I'm not necessarily asking where exact locations are, but more so areas in which I can find them myself. Anyone care to help?

A few starting points: -Drive around the obvious places: large urban areas, bad neighborhoods, industrial zones, etc. -Google. The EPA keeps records of polluted sites, history sites can be useful, and some counties/states have public records of things like sewer facilities (if you're into draining). -Public locations in the UE DB are sometimes worth visiting. -Build up some cred here to get full membership, which will get you access to the full UE DB. You get that by exploring on your own, researching, and exploring with established members of the community. Good Hunting.

| | | Hey! My name is gsxrac (or Morgan) and im just finding out theres actually a lot of people that enjoy the same thing I do. Glad I stumbled on this forum. I'm looking forward to hopefully meeting some new people from the forums and deffinatley looking forward to finding new places to explore. As far as urbex goes im interested in just about anything accept military installations and government buildings. I get in enough trouble without deliberately walking into trouble ;) Really interested in draining for some odd reason so if you live in the Richmond area and know of somewhere good to go PLEASE PM me or something so I can find some cool places around town. Im also a dog trainer, mechanic, and im obsessed with flashlights, guns, and racing(streetbikes). Well, thats me see yall around!
