I think Jester's point was just made.

Greywolf45, if you put your location as Oklahoma or perhaps your city and state rather than "A transplanted cactus jumper, stuck in the middle of redneck central" you may have a better chance of finding others from your area, they may even approach you.....

Just my $.02

Cheers!

If anyone really wants to know where i live, i'll tell them, no problem at all with that. As far as i know, i am the only explorer around here. I know there may be others, and i'll run into them some day.

I live in a little town in Oklahoma by the name of Hartshorne. Not much to explore here, but i am digging into Hartshorne's past, maybe something will turn up.

The only thing of interest here are the abandoned coal mines. The entire area is undermined with abandoned mine tunnels, even Hartshorne it's self. Coal was the big item in this area of Pittsburg County, Oklahoma. The area had 13 mines in operation at one time.

All the mine tunnels are now abandoned, and what mines that are not caved in, or filled with water, or gas, is used by bootleggers to hide their stills, and by druggies, to hide their labs. (A sad legacy of the coal industry).

The mines are all on private property, but one, (Carbon no. 3), and it belongs to the U.S. Bureau of Mines, to teach mine safety, to mine rescue.

I thought the USBoM was decomissioned (or whatever the proper term is) in like 1996. Are you sure they still own the mine, much less exist?

Well, someone's still training rescue crews at the old mine (Carbon number 3), being one of the few remaining underground coal mines of it's kind in the area that's still in good shape. As for the BoM, i would have to check on that. Don't know if the Federal government still owns the mine, or if it has been turned over to some other company. I'll do some digging, and let you know MacGyver

Wow. Good contribution there Kahos. And despite your sarcasm, it was actually a very good response, that made a simple, valid point. "Go out and meet some Level 3 people". It's the best word of advice on how lower level users can get their level 3 quicker.

It's also something you haven't done Kahos. Maybe you should stop complaining and posting two word responses and get out there and meet people!

What do you mean by saying its something he hasn't done?
He has met most of the Hamilton explorers and still has not got "lvl3" despite a few of of us have given him recommendations.

We must also go out and meet the enemy before he reaches our shores. We must defeat him before he attacks us, before our cities are laid to waste.

Saying it, and doing it are two entirely different things.

I'm guessing because the media got involved (which had no obvious negative repercussions anyway). I was reading the latest zine of Infiltration for most of the night and noted how an explorer "snagged" a map out of an ex military building. I was burned at the stake by flame wars when I admitted to taking elevator repair notes and other small things just like a map, a long time ago... yet its alright for this stuff to be in a magazine that many explorers read. Thats pretty hypocritical.

Even after being level 3'd, theres a lot of people on here that still think my only purpose of exploring is to steal things and break things. Those people are also people who have never gone exploring with me or any of the people I regularly explore with. I'm actually pretty baffled about where these stories originated. I really hate to re-hash this argument, cause it always ends badly for myself... but I guess I thought I might actually make some kind of point this time.

Flame away, feel free to dig up my forum history to back up your facts... I'm sure you will.

For what it's worth PM, I hold no ill will twards you. I don't know you, but i reserve judgement till i actually meet someone. It serves no useful purpose to berate an explorer in a forum the can be read by many, many people.

he may have, but so have a lot of other people on this site that have "lvl 3" and taggers as well.

I'm not trying to cause argument here, but it is kind of hypocritical to give one tagger a "lvl 3" and not another, but we are not talking about a tagger we are talking about someone who admitted to taking a business card or two. I dont really that makes him a thief, do not businesses hand out their business cards for free? He had also stated that there was a box of the cards.

We must also go out and meet the enemy before he reaches our shores. We must defeat him before he attacks us, before our cities are laid to waste.

This is bullshit. The requirements for level 3 access just get more stupid.

Why should I go and have to meet strangers and risk my personal safety just for access to a damn website? Blurring the lines between the internet and reality just isn't safe. Especially in America where gun-involved crimes are common as anything!

C'mon guys, think about it!

The requirements haven't changed since Level 3 has been implemented.

The concept is simple: Give a little, get a lot. Give nothing, get nothing.

If you're scared about meeting strangers, meet up in a public place like a big train station or a bar or something. I've met up with people from here to explore stuff, and from other places on the internet completely unrelated to exploring, and never met somebody who had the intention of raping and murdering me before dumping my corpse in a ditch. The whole "pedophiles and murderers tracking victims down on the internet" thing is waaaay overblown. And do you really think that a potential homicidal loon would be using a UE board to track down victims? 99.999% of the users of this board are pretty able-bodied and probably equipped with at least one item that would come in handy for self-defence.

And if I remember correctly, you're not even IN America.

I am from the UK, but still, come on, meeting up with someone just to get membership for a WEB SITE is a bit far fetched, isn't it? It's like opening up a clothes shop only to tell people to go and order online when they've queued for the check-out!

Once my assignment has been marked and the final grade certificate handed over, I'll be able to post photos. But until then, I only have the two that I didn't choose to use in the project.

How is meeting up with someone on this site thats a level 3 any different from meeting up with other explorers in a location. Ive meet 6 other explorers in a few assorted hospitals and they have all been cool. I feel meeting up with someone from the site that is trusted is safer that meeting someone in some old abandoned asylum.
