It's way way way easier to judge a person by meeting them in real life then by reading their posts online.

It's very easy to pretend to be someone online. In real life, it's very difficult.

Plus, meeting someone shows some major effort on your part to actually prove that you're trustworthy and a good person.

In short, this is Jester's decision, since you're from his area and you are able to meet him. Just hold on until the next meeting.

Personally I put a lot of stock in whether a person will show a little bit of committment and come out to meet some other explorers. This site is about being part of the exploration community after all. I also trust my judgement on people I meet in person, a lot more than I value rating a person on whether he contributes to the LDB.

i was personally denied due to not posting on the forums. i have a close friend who is a level 3 er and we did our first exploring together... hes the photo guy though.. but i realized that i dont think hes ever participated in the forums.. another level 3 friend maintains a journal on this site.. but basically it seems to be more of matter of whether the moderators are looking for reasons to approve you or looking for reasons NOT to.
either way im hoping to eventually be reconsidered, i was referred afterall, and have in fact met level 3 members and explored with them.

As I explained to you in PM, el capitan; you had (at the time) 0 posts.

It's hard to make a decision about Level 3 access when you have not even said hello or anything.

It was Crossfire that denied me, not you.

Yes, it was. I made a mistake by not entering a reason why you had been denied. I think you were the first or second person I felt had to be denied level 3 access after this new system had been introduced.

Yes, I am (gasp!) human, and make mistakes. Nobody's perfect, and I apologize.

I'm hoping that clears this up.

Next Vancouver meet will be posted, visible to all, in the BC forum. I'll also put it into the events thingy so it messages everyone in the area so they know about it. The next one isn't scheduled yet though...

Is this the el capitan of Autowitch relationship? If so - I give full endorsement for this user to have L3 access. Drop me a PM and I'll submit a recommendation for you.

They could be the exact opposite in person, or they are the same off-line as they are on-line. You'll never know till you meet them face to face.

But the point being, it's far easier to be full of shit online than in person. And, NO, I am not saying he's full of shit, i'm saying that as a general statement.

We've got to have about 10 level 3 members spread out all over the Greater Vancouver area. A person doesn't have to meet me in particular, any level 3 could be met. If I have nothing whatsoever that actually verifies a person is an explorer, i'm sorry, i'm not going to say *trusted*. He's busy, hey I can understand busy, i'm married, have a full time job as well as a side job, explore and have other hobbies and friends I see, but I'm willing to take my time to meet whoever is looking for level 3 here. It's not to my benefit, it's to theirs, and i'm willing to go out of my way for them. If someone doesn't want to take a little of their time... well I'm not feeling bad about it, I've offered to do whatever I can to help.

Save a good friend of mine, I haven't personally met anyone on this forum. If you want to get level 3, just contribute to the site as much as you can.

Yeah, but I can't contribute to the UEDB. I've got some nice pics of CamCo I was going to upload today, but poof - no access to this capability. Oh well - nobody but me gets to enjoy them.

If you have pictures to contribute, you do not necessarily have to have the DB to upload them into. There is a UE photography forum which you can post pictures as well for the whole community to see.

Yabbut pics is pics: UEDB is locale, access info, docs, gear, & such. I figure, if there's a database, don't replicate the function in, say, the photo forum. I'll paste a token pic in there, but it ain't the real McCoy.

Plenty of great explorers don't even post a damn thing in the LDB, despite having access. Posting pics in a UE section or the photography section is a good way to get recognized as an explorer, get known better, and have a better shot at level 3.

yeah, but as an analyst I'd prefer not to do the same thing twice (posting in a forum, then u/l-ing to the DB. However, I'll persevere with some annoying ticky-tacky forum posts. Plus, Bailey's has already met me, anyway. Whatever - if I get bored with my wait I've got enough on my plate elsewhere.

By the way, the plural of forum is fora, not forums.
