Question regarding level 3 request.

One question;

I requested level 3 access but I haven't heard anything. I know everyone is busy. My question is, if the moderators decide to not grant level 3 is the requestor advised of this? If so, are they told the reasons why not? Sorry if this has been covered, I looked thru everything posted and didn't see the answer.

Thanks.

You'll be notified either way. If it's denied you'll get a reason entered.

There's 72 requests in the queue now... I personally haven't had time to whiddle it down (been exploring, natch) but just be patient; we will get to it. Also, I personally like to let the requests sit in the queue for a couple days so people can add recommendations.

I've got your request in my queue, but since i've never met you, I was hoping to acomplish that at the UE meet you had said you would attend...

Thanks for the replies....I had said that I was not able to attend that meet due to work commitments. I would have otherwise.

I have no idea where you told me that, nothing in the meet thread about it...
So i've got your request on hold until there's something to show me to approve it. A recommend by someone that's met you maybe ?

When I submitted my request for level 3 I said I would have made the meet but for work commitments. And, no, I havn't met anyone on here (knowingly anyway). I was hoping that you would have queried my posts and seen that I have a genuine interest in architecture, local history and old buildings, and not an interest in flaming threads, or stealing or fighting with other people and all that other crap. No, I havn't ever made my own website, I don't know enough about computers to do that, (I hardly know how to post photos). I do miss the local thread (BC), and the threads that I am now limited to are not that interesting to me. I particularly miss the data base with the photos. I donated to the site when Av was having difficulty with the server, and generally really enjoy this site. I would say it's in my top 5. What else, if anything, can I do to get the access back?

Wow. Good contribution there Kahos. And despite your sarcasm, it was actually a very good response, that made a simple, valid point. "Go out and meet some Level 3 people". It's the best word of advice on how lower level users can get their level 3 quicker.

It's also something you haven't done Kahos. Maybe you should stop complaining and posting two word responses and get out there and meet people!

Save a good friend of mine, I haven't personally met anyone on this forum. If you want to get level 3, just contribute to the site as much as you can.

Yes, that's sound advice as well. If you contribute a bit, and get involved in good discussions, that would certainly work almost as well as getting together with Level 3 users.

Thank you, I feel that I have contributed to the discussion in a meaningful way, if a query of my posts is possible, one could see this. I enjoyed the forums immensely, and would continue to contribute if allowed access.

It appears that the standard is different for different moderators, some seem to think that you must meet another level 3 member in order to get level 3 access. It is refreshing to hear that some other moderators seemingly check your posts and see if you've been a member who contributes to the discussions.

I'm not anti-social or anything, the truth is, I'm just busy. True, there was a meeting, and true, I missed it. Is a face to face meeting the only way to trust someone? I don't have my own urban exploration website, and to be honest, I probably never will. And although my work gets me into some interesting places, that same job would likely frown on me whipping out my camera and taking a bunch of pictures, then posting them on the internet. But does all this mean that I can't be trusted? I still have a keen interest in local history, new development, old buildings and architecture. These are things that, in my mind are at the heart of urban exploration.

While I can see the point of some people wanting to meet the person in order to "trust" them, a manipulative person could appear to be just about anything they want to be in a 10 minute meeting. But that same manipulative person would have to be pretty committed in order to contribute 6 to 9 months of meaningful discussion on the forums, while at the same time, staying away from all the flame forums and hatred that seems to spring up here from time to time. All this before there was any knowledge of an upcoming level system.

I just wish there was more consistency in awarding these levels.

I really do care about these forums, if I didn't, I wouldn't be writing this.

What it means is that I have no reference for you, be it my own impression as the closest mod, or recommends from other people, or additions to ldb or things like that. Give me something more to work with here. I'm going out of my way to do things like the ue meet to help people get their level 3, and how many people showed up ? 3 that I didn't already know...

I will have another meet, but probably not for a month...

crossfire never gave me a reason when he denied me Servo. not one word as to why. I had to go to another mod to get an answer.

You also live in the lower mainland that a mod (me) as well as other level 3 members (Pixie, Merlin, Viper, Wolfman, Charlie, Jolt, Viking, Fallen Knight, Captain Midnight, and others I think I've forgotten. Just meeting someone and them putting in their input about their impression can help a lot. As is, all I've got to go on is that you have posted on the forum 60 times.

I applied for level 3, took a few days but Servo did respond and he gave me a very good, thoughtful reason for the denial. Who knows me around here? Nobody. I havent given them a reason to. At my age, with family stuff, I dont have the time to go out as I would like or used to. My posts in this forum up to that point were virtually nil.

So, I started posting, nothing major yet...i have nothing really to contribute as far as website, pics, etc but sitting here moaning about level 2 isnt gonna do me any good. Solution: post, make myself known here as I have on other boards. Who knows, may make some good friends here.

I understand fully where Av and the mods are coming from. They all have lives and this forum is a labor of love for Av-X and his staff. They will respond...may take some time, but they will..

And I'm content, whether or not I ever do get level 3, knowing that I can still access parts of the site and can in a small way contribute is enough for me right now.

I know you would Servo, despite what i may have said in the past, i trust your word. But when i read Crossfire's message informing me that my level 3 recommendation was denied, i saw nothing as to the reason. I don't doubt that he put a reason into the reply, but it did not show up. I'll send the reply i got in a PM if you wish to see it. It was Crossfire that denied me, not you.

Jester,

Don't mean to be a jerk here, but I'm just looking for some consistency from moderators. In this same thread, Octane say's "contribute and get involved in discussion" and you say: "all I have to go on is 60 posts that I've made in the forums". Do I absolutely have to meet someone right away before I can be granted level 3? Or should I make 60 more posts? As stated previously, I think that anyone would agree that you can make yourself appear to be anything to anyone in just one short meeting. I just think that too much weight is being placed on "meeting" someone.

I just think that it's clear from my history that I'm not a complete clown that is somehow a threat to this site.

I enjoy this site and want to continue to contribute to the community.

Am I way off base here??
