A few pictures I took of the Bowker tunnels back in August. First 3 are of Fireman's slide, the next ones are the Hall of Wonders. Side note, has anyone explored Bowker on the far side of the Hall, as it snakes its way up towards UVIC? Anything cool to check out on that side?

Welcome! Nice to see some action here. I'm up for a darkie trip if it's dry enough (and it still exists.) And yes, and yes.
|
|
htp, sounds awesome. I'll shoot you a DM. Research indicates Darkie was still accessible as recent as 2017, so I'm hopeful it's still around.
|
|
Lemme know if you guys get something together for that, would certainly be down for a darko trip as well

Also christheradioguy, it just leads up above ground near North Dairy Road, continues as a stream for a bit, and then goes underground again. One map I saw said that the next section goes all the way to UVIC, another map said it that it ends before Donnelly. Keep in mind that the second section is quite deep and is a totally different beast than the hall of wonders

Thanks for the heads up Dong. On my first trip, I followed the drain out of the Hall and above ground to the point where it turns into a stream again, good to know that it gets deeper as it goes along. Would it be hip waders kinda deep? I found Saanich's online GIS maps a few days back and have been examining the storm system layer. Looks like the walk-able section of Northern Bowker does continue for a ways but eventually get's too small to walk in, meaning popping up through a manhole or a long trudge back.

Posted by A. Lien Excellent essay NK. I know your last line was SNL material, so will leave it alone. (couldn't improve on it if I tried) You will go far young man. Sad and sorry to hear of Gizmos's passing. Mod: I strongly hope this 'head trauma' was not from violence inflicted on him by others.

Tuesday evening htp123 and I did Douglas Darkie. Thanks for coming out with me, it was a blast! Interesting to note that a lot of the original graffiti in the first chamber has been completely painted over with fresh stuff. We also found a Nerf dart in the chamber, looks like someone might have been up to some games. Darkie was pretty much exactly as I expected it after reading some past blog posts - outflow leads into a first chamber, which connects to a second (smaller) chamber with a long stretch of wooden pipe. From the second chamber there was another loooong stretch of wooden pipe, however, I only explored a few minutes down that section as there was a strong chemical smell and my eyes started burning. Anyway, couple of pictures I took on my potato-quality cell phone cam from Tuesday. Htp was doing some cool stuff with long-exposure photography too.

Nice pictures HTP and Radio! Seeing those makes me want to go exploring again, maybe this weekend I'll get back out there! I think months ago HTP and I were gonna do an explore, but then he dropped off the radar and I guess (to be fair) I did as well! Cheers, CMF

Metal, if you need an exploring buddy hit me up, I'd love to tag along. Htp and I were hoping to plan another expedition at some point too, who knows, maybe we can start up a small group.

Checked out the browning gyro park opening today, it’s about 5ft diameter, the water is about 2.5-3ft deep. Maybe it will go down once the moisture freezes in the winter

looks good, thanks! Phirar, if you need help with writing, then why don't you choose from American services? Nevertheless, I think it will be more convenient for you. I advise you to pay attention to the reviews from PaidPaper.net , which collected a lot of information that would be useful to you.

This thread recently popped up on Reddit again. Unbelievable that it is still going after all these years. You started something, KK, that will never go away.

getting back into this thread after years and years. Never got around to checking out the burrow, though I would love to. If it's still accessible and anyone has any tips, shoot me a pm please

The burrow? Not familiar with that one. Please elaborate?

I believe he's referring to 'The Burrow of the Beast.' If you search for it you should be able to find some pics of it. Looks like a cool drain! I've been doing a bit of research and think I've figured it out, access is through manholes in somewhat public areas, so still pondering the best way of approaching it.
|
|
The Burrow is probably only accessible from fairly public manholes so a middle of the night approach is probably best. Probably the best access is near a low income housing complex. Search this thread for info. It’s all there if you take the time.

I almost had my head taken off by a car coming out this spot lol, I've always gone in more towards the middle less people but it's definitely a bit of a drop in the transition between the vertical and horizontal pipes, I've actually kayaked in before as well

Noticed city crews working on the burrow a couple of times in the past year, haven’t been down in a while, wonder if anyone has any recent pics?
