Actually, more rainbowy. But yes, white in the 'narrow spectrum' sense.

TC Quote: "Road safety officers caught a Saltspring Island woman driving with a baby goat in her coat last week; she was ticketed for no seatbelt." I'm glad the goat thing was okay. It doesn't mean she's a Baaaaaad driver. Not a Unicorn, but kinda sweet photo op. Megs, call next time you're in town (jk, covers head)

Hahahahaha! Stuff like that happens here a lot, wonder what they would have found if they looked in her trunk? So I can't seem to put any pictures up, too bad I've been having some fun over here on the rock. Found some new cool spots to explore. Guess no show and tell from old salty (anyone have some pointers on what i can do to make the files fit?)

I'll try again

The Center of the Known Universe... Saltspring is a special place The trick with photos is to have them a low file size, and not large images or high quality. SpellCheck and Preview will show how they look before posting. Using an outside image system is not something I do, it enables much higher quality. Mods should be able to assist.

“We’ve just got the go ahead to do some restorative work on these brick structures,” Coghlan said. The work, valued at $1.3 million for 2011, comes after a lengthy assessment. From 2006 to 2008, the city ran Ninjaklutz down the pipes. They’ve since been categorized based on repair needs. Between now and June, crews will go in to touch up cracks and crumbles with new bricks and mortar. Those in need of more serious repair will have to wait until the right expertise can be found.

tee hee.
I wonder what they're going to do when it comes time to face "those in need of more serious repair".

You are, of course, referring to the many, many individuals who inhabit the various tunnels, spaces, grottoes, etc. in an effort to a) avoid the natural elements viz. rain/cold/occasional snow, and b) the long arm of the law. This is what you meant, right?

No luck for me and the pics, you guys will just have to come over here and see for yourselves

KK, what's going on with the 'tribute' film? The VFF booklet isn't clear on it- saying: screened at converge, then there's no time listed. Wondering if you had any info for us. Am I just missing something?

Tribute film? Nah. This is the same project that's been available to audiences on line for some time now. Go back to post 1585, and there it is. Many of the images featured in this Beneath effort were picked up from this site. Peterman has some photographs in it, as do I. I don't recall any sort of notification that our photographs would be used, but then HEY...in this crazy DYI world of 'art,' or 'documentary art' or what-have-you, all's fair. So in that respect, I 'borrowed' from their film and included about 25% of it in mine. Ya see, though I might have developed the idea of UTGC over a period of a few years, beginning somewhere around '98 or '98 when I was at university, and then culminating in a production grant to make the actual thing (and that was actually a second attempt at the grant, which means that I'd written the idea and the title down back in very early '04, and then redrafted it again later that year...which would mean that I had copious notes, etc. all held together in various notebooks, cocktail napkins, recycled scraps of paper, old envelopes...generally whatever I could get my hands on quickly before that particular idea vaporized...and given that the actual title, Under the Garden City, has been part of this whole process for as long as I'd been thinking about it (the idea), and since this thread has been running for about 6 years... ...I forgot where I was going with this. Okay look. I have no objection to any of this. Except for maybe the title. Seriously...one cannot conclude that the second wasn't inspired by the first. Fine. But at least come up with a better title, or at least one that isn't generally the same as the first. If I thought I could get away with it, I'd name my band Led Zeppelin, though now after all this, I'd probably call it Beneath the Led Zeppelin. As for the screening date, I suggest you go to the festivals site for date/time/place. I will absolutely not miss it, even though I've seen it a couple of times, and part of it is actually in my film. And I'll bring Peterman with me. And we'll both clap with mad crazy enthusiasm.

I guess I meant this more tongue in cheek.

The booklet/website has an incomplete listing, and so I was hoping you knew a little more about it. If anyone knows the deal please post, hope everyone is enjoying the festival so far!

It would be nice if they said what time the movie is/day. There's a 2:30 min movie on Youtube called beneath the garden city. I don't know if it's the same thing.

I've come to the conclusion that since there isn't actually any listing time/place for it, it must be distributed on the USB drive the blurb talks about. A shame since it's always great to stimulate discussion on the underground, see people react, and of course everyone has a story.

Sorry, got stuck at home. Also wanted to go see the 3rd wave. Damm, there are times when living 1+ hr out of "Victoria" sucks. (also, wife went to visit dad- I had last weekend off, was at Gottacon as a displayee right by the front door) Peach

Ain't goin'. Gonna watch "Two Indians Talking" instead. I saw Beneath the Garden City on Youtube, and the 2:30 s of it was 'nuff fer me.

Working on my new (to me) diesel VW. The veggie kit and required parts are taking all my hard earned cash, and time. I would like to meet some other time...over coffee or a brew. I really want to explore the garden city, and hang out with folks more. Soon I will be able to get around the island for almost free! (PS...IT'S A 4DOOR, FOUR SEATER...island road trips abound!)

I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too! | |
Did anyone go to the BTGC? How was it?
