finding beauty in the decay

| | | I am new to this site, came upon the URE tag at the PINES awhile ago. I have been exploring abandoned places since childhood, just didn't really know there was a name to it until recently and this wonderful world wide web shit, haha. I have background in Architecture and Photography...thus my interest. sort of a chicken and egg situation, not sure which came first. Anyways, I would like to meet other local explorers and hit up some places...message me if in the area.
not a hippie so lay off I never edit photos, that's cheating to me. |

| | | Hello everyone I'm Sandra and I'm from Utrecht, NL. I'm still pretty new to urban exploration, but I'm definitely enjoying it. I've already met a couple of members of this forum and had a lot of fun exploring together Right now there are only two three locations on my to-do list, but I'm sure I'll visit many more. | | | my name is todd but people call me phoxxx friends call me vicks. i honestly dont remember how i stumbled across this site, all i know is i love it. urban exploration is something me and my brothers used to do all the time when we were younger. we just didnt know there was a name for it, or a community this big for it. we never documented any of our (what we then called "dives") and we never really talked about them much except with each other. honestly i probably couldnt tell you the last time we pulled a successful dive where we actually found something of interest or a place of interest. but now that i have this site, at my disposal i have a feeling that i if not with my brothers will be doing alot more dives.

| | | Hey everyone! I just moved to London from New York City - previously from LA and Vegas. I have explored in all of these places and actually just found a cool WWII bunker in Iceland last month. I used to work in archaeology (hence my fascination with ruins) but now I am a Ph.D. student at Royal Holloway, University of London and a documentary filmmaker. I am going to be doing my Ph.D. dissertation on urban exploration as a way of making alternative maps of the city. I am looking forward to getting full member status, as I have a ton of new stuff to post. Just found a new ruin the other day that is huge near Wandsworth Bridge. I heard from locals that it was an old margarine factory in the 20s and 30s. I got amazing pictures! So I am going to be doing a short film soon on urban exploration in London. If anyone would like to participate, send me an email at: [email protected] See you all in the delicious disorder!

| | | Hey hey! I'm an explorer from the Bonn / Cologne (Köln) area in Germany. There doesn't seem to be that much going on in that area urbex-wise, but i found a couple of nice places already. Some may have seen me on other urban exploration forums, at least i have spotted some familiar nicknames here already.

| | | Call me Vekkytone, if possible. Live in Oakland, work elsewhere in the Bay Area. Picked up a copy of "Access All Areas" at City Lights a week or so ago, and it brought back all sorts of wondrous memories from my college days: Rooftops, basements, steam tunnel tours, stealing apples from the upper floors of Chicago's Drake Hotel. Et cetera and such. It's a shame I've gone nearly a decade since properly scratching this itch. Strengths are probably social engineering, curiosity and cleverness. I need to work on my fence-hopping. Any old Bay Area hands who'd dig showing a new fellow the local ropes would be most appreciated.

| | | hey my name is well... its on here isnt it. I just found/explored my first drain today and looked it up. This is what i found. Im interested in graffiti and would like to hear peoples opinions about it combined with UE. Im not incredibly good with a camera, not even remotely good so that could be a problem. Oh well. Hope to find some other cool explorers and infiltrate!

Hi, kj! Graffiti is one of those subjects that incites flame wars on these forums - the official creed is It's Bad, Don't Do It. Don't worry about your photographic skills - unless you're posting in the "critique my photos" section, people are very forgiving, and are more interested in what's in the photos than your artistic or technical mastery
