| | | This is going to sound odd, but if I'm doing any exploring close to home(walking distance), I take my Discman-that seems to make people think I'm just a guy out on a walk, I guess people in my neighborhood don't believe you can trespass with headphones on! As for my 'lucky charm?' Swiss army knife! Had it better than 10 years, comes in handy in so many ways....
I was thinking about how people seem to read the Bible a whole lot more as they get older; then it dawned on me - they're cramming for their final exam... |

| | | Multitool is essential. From my experience, a Leatherman with the following turns out to be very handy: knife, pliers, and screw drivers. They all help you get into places that you might otherwise not be able to get into. Pliers are very helpful in so many ways. Also, a lot of sites are kinda sketchy and it never hurts to have a knife on you.

I must say... a Beer, a bong and a blowtorch...this oughta be on HELL of a party! Who's getting the ice cream?
You could always walk around with a leash in your hands. If someone questions what you're doing, just say you're looking for your dog! But, of course, if you bring the Ninja you won't have to worry about anything! And keep in mind that it is extremely unlucky to not only have a white lighter in the car, but to have a white lighter in the car, while wearing a pink gorilla suit, grabbing your ankles and saying "Here, piggy piggy!!" as the theme song for Smokey and the Bandit plays on your iPod. (please do not ask about my personal experience with this) Then again, after they haul you off to the 'Looney-Bin" you can get some GREAT 'before' pictures of the place.

What Are You Looking At?
| | Re: Lucky Stuff (and other odd but useful equipment you bring) <Reply # 15 on 11/29/2007 9:19 AM >
| | | I bring a small piece of rope/twine, which I have found is nice to tie open a door, gate, something blocking a hallway or entrance way from a good picture/snapshot. Just something long enough to be useful, yet short enough so as to not effectively strangle humans with it. I also like the idea from another explorer of electrical tape (small and practical). I just remembered seeing in an outdoor/camping store (REI store in Reading, MA. www.rei.com) a few days ago that they sell a tiny roll of grey duct tape that hikers can carry in a backpack. I'll have to pick one up. Another thing I bring is a "Space Pen" which is a pressurized ink pen that writes upside down, underwater (who would do that?), in zero gravity (good luck with trying it), and on grease. It is black and very small, measuring about 3.6 inches long and is waterproof if one should fall off a roof and land in a lake, puddle, river, etc. I also bring a pad of paper that is waterproof and won't tear when it rains or gets wet. The two items go together nicely when urban exploring for taking various notes on anything that pops in your mind. These two items are also sold at REI, or outdoors/camping stores. The Space Pen is also sold at Staples office supply stores. For luck I wear a pair of lucky socks that I know will always get me home no matter what happens. I just hope the sock monster that lives in my washing machine doesn't eat one of them (I think the "lucky magic" only works if the two socks are together. Sort of like a marriage.)
I'm going hunting for mysteries. Where's my flashlight? Don't Like Clowns who Vandalize, B&E, and Steal from Sites. |
