What stuff do UEers bring for good luck? What useful things have you brought that got you out of a bad situation? And what unexpectedly useful things do you bring?

Rope. Plain and simple.

Also, TP. But I have nothing that brings me luck; I do carry a seatbelt cutter that has a glass buster on the end of it. But I guess rope is more to get you INTO a situation than out of one ;) Since I'm short I'd rather climb down a rope to get out than be handed down or drop.

I don't go anywhere without my sox hat and my multitool.

You reminded me! My lucky Nasa hat has shielded my poor eyes from many a branch whipping back at me while following explorers. But, it also makes for hard climbing...gotta turn it around.

Bring both just to be safe. And as a side note, I lived next to a guy who looked exactly like Chuck Norris.

He WAS Chuck Norris.

Sorry, I had to.

A compass...always good to know what direction your going.
For good luck, I have a lucky penny in a commemorative casing and a $1 Mohegan Sun Gaming token.

Why I don't have a compass still astounds me. Seriously. Any time one ends up down in steam tunnels with a general idea of what direction they should be going in- have a compass. Good call, gr8fzy.

Aren't you worried that the metal in pipes or reinforced concrete will screw up your compass bearings?

i got my car stuck in the snow and had to camp at a site. good thing i had that block. i would have froze to death that night.

I always carry climbing rope. The one time I needed it was the one time I didn't have it...
