| | | I like the idea from Blackbird regarding an "auto inspection mirror that looks like an extendable dentist mirror." I can see the many uses for it. Easy to pack/carry in my gear. A very good item to have available when exploring. |
I found a building (more like a bunker) and the one section I couldn't get into at the time had a little hole knocked in the side. Using a Mag Lite and a mirror I could see most of the room (with on the spot practice).

http://cat.org.au/~predator/approach.txt There is a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart, that you can't take part; you can't even passively take part, and you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you've got to make it stop... |

| | | The bendable tiny LED light is great for checking to see if drains are worthwhile. The laser is good for measuring distance in the dark. and my version has a pen too. All that for 4 bucks at walgreens, lol.

| | | I usually have at least a couple of those little disposable eye exam torches on me. At work we get sent more than we could possibly use, so, yeah. Nice as a Plan C light source. Also a little bit of fossilized wood I found on a beach once. That's of less practical use. How did this white lighter thing come about?

Glove are a great idea, but you're going to want to go with leather, latex won't protect against sharp things.....

Yep, I usually wear clothes too when exploring . There should also be an urgent requests to the Vatican to get a patron saint for urban explorers ASAP. If any group of people needs one, it's them!

| | | black military style ripstop cap, hoodie (if it's cold), cheap basic black gloves (the stretchy kind that are kind of like sock material), sturdy jeans or dickies work pants, small headlamp, belt size maglite (led upgrade in place), backpack, miniature flexible tripod, larger extendable tripod, camera, lens, camera remote trigger, bandanna, I.D., phone, sturdy pocketknife, respirator. all of these things either fit in my pocket, on my body, or in my pack. If i get picked up I don't get flack because I don't have any "tools for breaking and entering" or "tools for arson". Having a fairly nice camera has actually gotten me out of one or two scrapes because it gives me a little more cred as something other than a vandal.

I always thought that wearing a black velvet jacket was good luck and very classy for all aspects of exploring. I need to get me one ASAP .

I dunno, I got my uncle's one from the seventies, and so far I have worn it twice, and the first time i was unable to get onto the awesome patio that defined the whole building, even when I returned and managed to climb the exterior up to the right height, and the other time I got there and the place was leveled except for landscaping, a shed, and a treehouse.
