Trust me in know, didn't think it appropriate to post a photo of my nuts covered in blood.

Once it happens, you don't make that mistakes again.

Being hung up on the top as your arm strength dwindles, with the only option to fall over the fence and let the barb rip wherever it goes is not pretty, and really destroys jeans. Flimsy chain link fences can get real ugly.

Your security measures were inadequate.
How unfortunate for you.

Has anyone mentioned climbing in the corners?

Blah Blah Blah. Shut up and open the damn door.

Gates, corners, but sometimes all you got is a long straight stretch of wobbly chain link. That's when it gets dicey.

To clarify, chainlink fencing like those used along a lot of RRs can hang you up bad as barbed wire, and can do a lot of damage on the way down if you can't get it unhooked from your cloths and flesh.

Climbing fences is easy most times, but never drop your guard, especially at the top.

Your security measures were inadequate.
How unfortunate for you.

True that. I've got a hole in the crotch of pair # 2 of my two pants. I've never sewed it up, just use it in case of emergency.

Lots of people think barb wire is more effective than a brick wall.
It is not.
Razor wire will fuck you over the moon, but barbed wire is mainly mental. You just need to know where to put yourself. I reccomend thick sneakers, with pointed toes for effective chain-link climbing. Then grab the support, and make sure you pick a new one, with the wire nice and tight, then put your feet as high as you can, swing one up and put foot on top of the wire. Then use that foot for leverage and pull yourself on top. If you feel it necessary, and I reccomend it, diong this a in one movement then pitching yourself into a parkour roll off the top is probably the best way to finish it, that way you move fast and don't have to agonize over slowly going over the wire.
It's like ripping off a band-aid, it hurts less if you do it fast.

Everything happens for a reason. It's just up to you to figure out that reason. So go ahead. Search for the reason. Now you know it's there.

Putting your feet on the barbed wire is not a good idea, it's not rigid enough. You need to be in complete control at the top. Use the gate posts whenever possible.
Avoid ballistic movements when going over because if you catch on anything, something(s) is going to rip. Cross over in a in a slow, careful manner.

Never underestimate it. It can cause serious injuries.
Band aids don't dig 3/8 of an inch into your flesh!

Stepping on the barbed wire itself isnt good...you'll either bend the post thats holding it up or rock back and forth and possibly lose your balance.

Your right, it probably isn't best to do it quickly, I spent a lot of time when I lived in New Mexico getting into places I shouldn't have been. And here's the thing: I did it for fun. I also took a few parkour lessons, (at the reccomendation of a friend,) and I'm an alright traceur, nothing special. But what parkour taught me is that if you can make something flow, and flow fast enough, it doesn't matter how flimsy your foothold is, it only needs to last a second or two.
Admittedly, I do try to use corners or gate posts when available. But the problem with these is that security is usually a bit tighter, usually video cameras by the gate, especially if it's an active place, like a crane site.

Everything happens for a reason. It's just up to you to figure out that reason. So go ahead. Search for the reason. Now you know it's there.

Never was real fond of parkour although Jackie Chan makes it look easy.

Playing in the dark or in unfamiliar surroundings invites serious injury. The more momentum, the greater the risk and severity of injury. Knees and shoulders are especially at risk, and these injuries can be debilitating. Another thing to consider with fences is getting hung up and dumped face first to the ground, this would be very bad. It's of paramount importance to have complete control when scaling fences of any kind to avoid injuries.

Always be careful were you put your hands. Using a tree once to scale a waist high barbed wire cattle fence netted me a 1 inch thorn stuck completely into my palm. I had to pull my impaled hand off it. It was on the opposite side of the tree, hidden from view.

Hidden holes are also common at the base of fences. Descend slowly holding onto the fence whenever possible. Always wear high top laced boots to protect feet and ankles.

Your security measures were inadequate.
How unfortunate for you.

The Cpt. Slow method: Be stronger than the barb wire. Just get a running start and plow through it. Plus, then anyone behind you doesn't need to worry about climbing, now that there is a tank sized hole in the fence.

Buy one of these:

Trow it on the fence and all of a sudden you can climb over it without problems.
I am not sure how thick the US ones are, but we used the German ones with razor wire in an exercise and it worked very well.
The guy that used it while throwing himself into the rolls so we could pass was cut out without injuries. So if this works with razor wire, it should work with any other barbwire as well.

Problem being if you are stopped it could be consider a burglary tool. Extra gear that's not needed.
Speed is not necessary when breaching fences as a civilian, care, common sense, and upper body strength are.
Holes left by others work very well too.

Because I like to lay on a blanket when I sun?
If they go this far, than your spare tire is a burglary tool as well.
You car is one as well.
