| | | I explore drains alone all the time. It does get kinda scary, just cuz it's so dark and you get that paranoia. Sometimes I constantly look behind me. The cell reception is always non-existent down there, which makes it even worse. To be honest I'd much rather go with people but "hey, you wanna crawl around the sewers with me?" doesn't sound like a good way to make friends. But it does mean you can go as long as you want in those endless RCPs.
The sign said "Anybody caught trespassin will be shot on sight" So I jumped on the fence and I yelled at the house, "Hey! What gives you the right?" http://www.flickr.com/photos/evman/ |

| | | I've only ever gone alone but that's because none of my friends aren't really up to it. They think it's cool but too much work to actually go. I can't blame them, it's a pretty intensive thing to do.

| | | When I'm alone, I'm more precocious, I take greater risks, compose better photos, and take more time. I often wish I was sharing the experience, but when I invite friends along, it almost always seems less fun. Or we get caught. But then, I'm not a people person...

| | | I've got hunting for locations alone, but never actually explored them alone. I always take someone with me (I'm dead scared of getting shanked by hobos or falling through a floor or getting eaten by rabid raccoons!!) If I know the building or location well, I'm not as worried - but I definitely take MAJOR precautions when I'm going; Always let someone know where you're going, make sure you have your gear with you and make sure you have a cell phone in case something happens. | | | I explore alone for the most part, mainly because I find it easier to be stealthy. As well I go alone to stay safer, with no body around I tend to not take risks that I would otherwise.

| | | I have to say when I go I usually have one person go with me. Partly because we share the same level of commitment to the hobby, and want the same things out of it. Also I'm more likely to push my boundaries with where I'll go and how far away I'll go when someone is going along too. Big thing though is safety. I think I would only go somewhere alone if I had been inside while it was still in use.

| | | I'll scout things alone, but when it comes to actually exploring stuff, I only do solo trips to locations that I've been to a lot and know well. That way I know what the dangers -- if any -- are ahead of time and I'm less likely to find myself in a bad situation without a way out.

| | | I never go exploring alone because of the dangers associated with it. I generally go with one other person, usually my one friend who is just as into UrbEx and photography as I am. I never go on a explore with more than 4 people in tow however, because it seems to me that the more people you have in your party, the greater your chance of being detected is.

| | | I always drag my brother with me. Relatives will usually always go with you, well in my case it always works out that way. I have gone alone but its pretty dangerous in some situations. Always bring someone with you in case something bad happens.

Blast! Well, at least I tried by throwing him in the isolation cell. Too bad it's door doesn't lock.

| | | I explore alone occasionally, but never into drains or anything underground. Exploring alone can be great...until a baby bunny dies right outside the abandonment you're exploring. Said bunny took almost half an hour to die, and if you have ever heard one screaming, you know how unsettling that noise is.

| | | Mines can be dangerous because of the buildup of certain types of gases that can be dangerous.. For example, too much carbon monoxide can kill you. If you explore around mines keep an eye out for open pits, they're deep.. In AZ some people dump stolen cars in the pits..

| | | I don't mind going alone so long as it isn't an area prone to hobos or junkies. People scare me a lot more than rusty pipes. But maybe that's a matter of never not yet having fallen through a floor. Also, if you're worried for safety, just leave a note with a friend or two you trust will come after you if you disappear. Telling people where you are and when you should have returned by is a good back-up plan. I've even heard of people leaving notes in their cars "John Doe, owner of this vehicle, entered abandoned building 1 mile north of here on 12/12/12 8am. Anticipated return time: 6pm" Also, I feel you ought to consider the risk you may expose other people to by having to come rescue you. A police officer or firefighter shouldn't have to put his/her life at stake because you went and voluntarily put yourself in mortal peril.
