| | | My rule of thumb is if I'm alone I stay on ground level, no matter how inviting the stairs to the roof/basement are. A problem with groups of more than 3, especially photographers, you need to make sure everyone is out of everyone's way, there's rarely an agreed upon protocol for exfiltration (time/location/method). I found that 2 people works best when visiting a brand new location, less inclined to split up. Also when you're with others the whole game plan changes when security/5-0 shows up. My standard procedure is either "Book it" or talk to them nicely depending on the state of the structure and method of entry. But sometimes your partners may not feel the same and your actions can reflect negatively on them or vice versa. IE. If i decide to book it and make a ruckus while leaving, it may spark further investigation. [last edit 9/9/2011 6:56 PM by twotone - edited 1 times]

I don't go in basements even if I DO have someone with me. That's where the gang of rapists cook their meth.

| | | If Ido go alone, I'm either close to home, infiltrating, or in a very low risk site. Duo work is my thing, though.

| | | Yeah, same here. If I fly solo I don't do anything too far away from home and I make sure the wife knows where I'll be. I try to be certain it's a place I'm a bit familiar with as well, don't want to find myself falling through a hidden hole.
