.308 revolver? Damn folks, thats a new one on me.

Bring what you think you need. I carry a few things most folks would think were unneccessary, but I like having them. For instance, one of those throw away rain ponchos, and one of the little fold up space blankets.

I have changed my personal exploring ethics code. From now on it will be: "Take only aimed shots, leave only hobo corpses." Copper scrappers, meth heads and homeless beware. The Jonsered cometh among you, bringing fear and dread.

2-3 million candlepower torches are absolutely essential for draining, if you're interested in taking good pictures that is. Inventor77 used to (somehow) get by with just his headlamp and a flash, with brilliant results, but my SB600 flashes or 900lumen xenon flashlight were never bright enough to get a perfectly crisp silhouette...fine for lighting up the foreground a lil, but woefully inadequate for proper drain photography... definitely leave the big torches behind if you're exploring above ground tho...in that case just stick with the el-cheapo lights unless you want to attract unnecessary attention.
most of the other shit on the list sounds legit tho, especially the .308 revolver, which can be substituted with a .50cal desert eagle or .357 magnum, as needed. gotta be packin heat in case you run into CHUDS, Zombies or the dreaded commi-nazis

Don't forget the S&W model 500, you know, for shooting drain elephants.

Nah, just go draining with your underwear on the outside of your clothes, Superman-style. That's what I do, and I'm yet to encounter a single drain elephant.

In all seriousness, though, the only thing I always take (camera gear aside) that I wouldn't have on me on the way to work in the morning is a torch.

I always take a copy of Windows Server 2003 Unleashed (The R2 Edition) and if you don't your not just NOT an explorer, but a fool.

Chris...

We all had ostriches. My dad had an ostrich farm! I remember one day someone came in and said the high altitude bombing of Kosovo had been a limited success, so we all went out and celebrated… by killing an ostrich and boiling it in kiwi fruit.

Bolt cutters are by no means essential. So far I've never actually seen anywhere they can help, and if found with them, they do the exact opposite. Lots of police still count those as B&E tools. Other than that, you were right on the essentials.

Every location I've ever been to could have been made easier (or already was by someone else) with a set of bolt cutters ... but where is the fun in that?

Pffft.
Made this while sitting in frame. The backlighting hits a wall 40' from the camera - while I could have used another 80-lumen light, a zillion-candlepower brick would have been a real pain. And remember to protect your hearing when fighting zombies in RCP.

In my state, if you are standing around (with boltcutters), you are not just loitering, but loitering "with criminal intent." They're defined by law as burglary tools, so it won't just be some hick cop saying "This FINGERNAIL CLIPPER is a B+E device!"

Finding a drinkable beer in a can is NOT an easy task.
James Page and TJ's Simpler Times Lager are both good choices.
