The first time I wasn't doing anything illegal, though I had a "professional" camera (rebel xt) near an airport, and passers by were complaining that I was taking picture of the security measures. (chain link fence) When in reality, I was taking pictures of planes landing. He just said to come back at 6am because nobody would be around to bug us.
The other time I was caught trespassing but one of the fellows I was with had hilarious pocket content and made the police laugh, so we were let off with a warming.

A paper take-out bag from KFC, an envelope, a napkin, a bar of aluminum, several bottle caps, a straw wrapper, a wallet, a cell phone, and a leathermen.
I just had a cell phone and a box cutter on me, and the other guy had nothing. The cop just joked with me about how my knife was wimpy.

Draining with my buds (I was 14 years old) a long, long time ago....we come to a drain box and hear singing. A little kid is on the surface dropping stones into the grate from above, down to the puddle 20 feet below, where we are. Fellow drainer starts yelling up at the kid "help us we are trapped" or something similar. The kid runs off screaming and we laugh ourselves stupid.
Departing the drain 45 minutes later we notice that the outfall is dark. Moments later we discover why. The local PD has a officer crawling up the pipe to us. A few words pass between the PD and us and we follow him out of the drain. At the outfall were 6 police cars, the rescue squad and fire department. We each got a ride home with an officer.
My Mom opens the front door to see me and the cop. Cop patiently explains the situation to my Mom. Mom asks the cop "was he doing anything illegal" Cop says no ... just dangerous. Mom thanks cop, tells him it will never happen again and closes the door. Mom proceeds to beat the piss out of me. When Dad comes home she enlists his assistance. More beating. I got it regularly for the next 2 weeks.
When I was finally released from home prison (4 weeks later) I learned that my parents had called each fellow explorers parents and made sure we all SUFFERED. I'm sure they collaborated on our punishment.
It kept me out of the drains for the rest of the summer.

Ironically, the place I work at is in the same industrial park, and this security guard sees me everyday, but couldn't tell by yelling at me from his truck.
Another time, I got pulled over by an officer on my way home from an exploration. My gear was uncovered in the bed of my truck, and my camera full of pics was beside me on the seat. Luckily, he only wanted to frisk me for having a NY registration and PA plates. I played dumb, ask why state troopers have to wear the hats with the silly chinstrap, and got only a warning.

I had been taking exterior photos of a church right off the currently not so busy highway, disappearing around back every so often. Never actually found a PoE on my short trip. After I got my shots I headed back to my car. I could only make a right turn but needed go right so I had to found a route to get me around after 20 min of dead end turns around the neighborhood up the hill, I finally found my way to the road I was looking for. Upon getting back to the highway I discovered the traffic had begun. I wasn't very concerned about it. After I turned at the light I noticed a number of flashing lights back towards the church including a nice little road block. This caused about 2 miles of traffic.
I later found out from a friend that the church is alarmed and heavily watched. Whoops! I may have some fun retesting that theory at a later date.

His voice from behind me made me jump about three feet in the air, but he was just warning me that "If ye don' git out of there y're liable to get a nail right on through y'r foot or'a beam down on y'r head, lass! And I ain't gonna be held responsible!"

And we can see that this punishment of physically beating their own child was very effective at dissuading you.. for the rest of one season, after which you are now an active member on a UE website. Beating your kids sure is effective! LOL

Me, my mate, and a friend were exiting a grain elevator and walking down the road back to the street, and all of the sudden a cop in an suv drives up behind us (must have been behind the building at the time). He was an old guy, and didn't give us any trouble, just said it was private property (didn't know we went inside though) and drove off.
So we continue walking, get about 20 feet and a second guy drives up behind us! This time it was a younger guy who seemed all too eager to bother us. He gets out, takes down ID info, makes us show whats in our pockets, starts his little interrogation on why we're up there, no trespassing, and so forth. He was talking about people vandalizing the place recently (though it had been in the same torn up condition 5 months earlier). This made me really wonder that if the owner cared about the place being ransacked by teens, why is every single door wide open?
Whatever, we parted ways and nothing ever came of it.
But dammit, why does the first time I get caught have to be by a total ass... At least now I'll be less careless on my entrance/exit even if the place looks totally unwatched.
