| | Forming a Milwaukee Group? < on 7/8/2006 2:27 AM >
| | | Anybody from Milwaukee and the surrounding area interested in forming an urban exploration group? I guess I'm asking for my own selfish purposes...I'm an experienced UE-er, but I'm new to the area and would feel more comfortable going with some people more familiar to the area and particular locations. I think we'd all be able to learn a lot from eachother quickly, and it'd help everybody - experienced or inexperienced. So please respond to this thread so we can get this rollin'. Places I'm interested in: Pfister & Vogel Pabst A.F. Gallun - their buildings on the bank of the Milwaukee River are ripe, but the one across Water St from that has been remodeled into offices or condos Solvay Coke - lots is demolished, but some still stands. How rickety, though? Industrial complex on 32nd & Hampton - cons: not a good neighborhood, some demolished, severe fire in parts of it 5 years ago left stability questionable Maybe some of the unoccupied parts of Tower Automotive, but it's still somewhat heavily guarded. Thanks!

| | | I'm down for this. I doubt I'd be able to do a lot, I'm carless. So that means I'd have to take the bus. And I'm not the wealthiest individual. Yeah, a true trekker. Anyway, hopefully we can explore sometime together?

| | | i'm still interested in whats left of Solvay. A.F. Gallun is pretty much empty....no fun there. Tower is probably our best bet but yes, definatly a challenge. That building on 32nd & Hampton i would not be too interested in. I agree it looks like a great building but the area there is not friendly to us white folk (not being racist. i grew up not too far from that area). I wouldn't be surprised if there were already some drug dealers working out of there already. There are a few buildings left that seem somewhat accessible and I am interested in checking out and I do come to Milwaukee very often. If anyone wants to just set a time and date (via PM or email) I will see if I can make it. carbo-h20

| | | I'm down. Carbonatedwater and I have hit a few of the places on your list, and we are always up to meeting new people and UE's. This Thursday might be rough, I have out of country guests in for a b-day celebration, but thursdays in Milltown are when Jazz in the park's are held, so there will be a lot of attention downtown and possibly not in other areas. PM or e-mail. Coffee is my second vice.

| | | Fantastic! I'm really excited by the turnout so far on this thread. Once we get a few more posts, I'll try to set up an event for at least a meet n' greet that is mutually agreeable for us all. Tell your friends! Tell your Pa! Telegraph it to ships at sea! Milwaukee's gonna get infiltrated! ...well, at least moreso than it allready has. -MwackySwift

| | | I'd definitely be interested in exploring with others around here! I've been to most of the places on that list... but that was a couple years ago, they've all changed a lot since I was last there. I have not been to many places in the menominee valley... I'd be really interested in seeing what's there. This week is impossible for me as far as meeting up... but keep in touch by PM, ok? Or if anyone has livejournal, add me- my username is wingedkamui

| | | What does everyone say to a meet n' greet n' plot n' scheme some time next week or weekend (July 24-30)? If we can nail down a date and ballpark time, I can post it as an event in hopes that we could attract more people. PM me or reply to the thread. Thanks!
